Default 1966 Big Block Fan Shroud

This has been restored where they usually break, and painted with the factory correct 10dg lacquer.

I have specialized in 66/67 bb fan shouds for about 20+ years, these are the very last

Visible are the spots of the inspection stickers (they fall off)....and they were UNDER the paint

There is and has never been a reproduction for 1966.

Those that say they are at a low price and sit for long time on the auction site are there for a reason

$2700 plus shi

That looks to be a GREAT shroud. You just don't see these offered often at all. Good luck with your sale!

Dang…. I was 1 year too early. I needed one of these and found one for $2900 but just way out of my price range. I may have offered $1200 (someone else on the forum) and was laughed at. I hope you get a decent price for it.

Can you post a close up of the repair?
And I've heard some discussion that the shrouds where natural, not painted.
If painted was this the black out paint? Or specifically shot with black paint prior to installation at the factory?
Sorry for all the questions, but its rare to find someone who is an expert on these old shrouds.

I’ve had these shrouds in 66 big blocks for going on 50 years. They were definitively painted back then

what happens is the paint doesn’t stick very well to the plastic and falls off after 30 to 40 years

John Hinckley also wrote about this painting process in the basement of the St. Louis Corvette assembly plantin some of the NCRS articles

The shroud is repaired in a way so that it’s undetectable when it’s painted with the proper 10° lacquer

I went to extensive lengths to source the lacquer in the way that it was made back in 1966 not 2026

Tuna Joe -
Every '66 BB that I have judged has had the shroud painted black. When I was restoring my Duntov awarded '66, I re-painted my shroud semi-gloss black and never lost points for the finish at the Regional or National level.
