Default C6 Z06 Corsa Show Down - Sport vs Xtreme

Hey guys,

This is more of a personal C6Z post (as seen by me rolling around on the garage floor vs using my lift lol) than business but thought you might enjoy!

My own curiosity has peaked and I wanted to answer the age old debate of Corsa Sports vs Xtreme for the C6 Z06.

Corsa Sports were the first mod I made to my completely bone stock C6 Z06 back in 2018 (way before the Xtremes were released) and still one of my favorite modifications to date.

I couldn't be happier with them. I receive a TON of compliments - they sound incredible at idle/WOT but also they're impressively quiet in the cabin considering my car is an RPM heads/cam combo with ARH 1 7/8th in Headers/Catless X-Pipe. Virtually no drone at cruising speeds and could wake the dead at full tilt.

I've been intrigued by the Xtreme's larger 4.5in tips, weight savings and also wanted to experience the tonal/volume difference for myself.

So... here is a comprehensive comparison in the quest to be your ultimate resource for Corvette upgrades. Cold start, revs, idle, fly by etc.

Enjoy and let me know what you think!

As always, feel free to PM or call/text with any questions or if you'd like a set for yourself (in stock w/group pricing )

Nice review…almost think the Sport sounded better in the video but that could be audio. I do really love the pops and crackles on decel.

Did you happen to get total weights for both with over axle pipes? Doesn’t appear to be a lot of accurate info out there for the various exhaust weights. For reference, I installed Borla Ataks last week on my H/C Z and my factory modded NPP tipped the scales at 54 lbs, the Ataks at 35 lbs. This was mufflers and over axle pipes but no clamps. I could extrapolate the weights as both sets of my over axle pipes were roughly equal at 10 lbs, but just curious. Very nice review!

The Xtremes are deeper sound all around. Sports are higher pitch. I love the Xtremes!

Great review and a good test car to do it on (heads/cam). Very helpful for someone buying system. The Corsa Sports (the 2021 version weighs about 41 pounds - I bought Sports in 2007 and 2023) this included the over axle pipes which at 6 pounds each. This is down from say the 2011 version which was like 54 pounds (similar to OEM which is unit you had on your car) and way lighter than the 2007 version which weighed in at 65 pounds. In all cases the over axle pipes were 6 pounds each the muffler was the big difference. For me it was a 25-pound drop since I had the version 1 (2007) each muffler was like 10 pounds lighter. What size rim and tires you have in back there?

Thanks! I filmed on my 15 & 16 Pro Maxes so it might not be the best audio - I have an external mic but it would easily get blown out by the Xtremes

Double06 below said the over axle pipes weigh 6lbs each, sounds about right. Always nice to shed some lbs, OEM mufflers are boat anchors haha

I can't disagree, they sounded so good. If only they were as light as the Xtremes - maybe I'll swap back eventually, we'll see...

Thank you! I was really surprised how light the Xtremes are but then again, there's really not much to them haha

They're BC Forged LE10 - 18x12 rear with a Toyo RR 345/35/18

Update: did about 100 miles this weekend on a rally through PA back roads. Received a bunch of compliments and I really like the Xtremes although it's borderline obnoxious with the headers, no cats and cam. Sounds like gunshots when you let off the throttle on decel. No complaints whatsoever with in cabin drone/resonance.

I think the Sports had more of a... 'rich' tone to them whereas the Xtremes are just in your face aggressive.

Nice thing about the Xtreme's tip design is the inner y-pipe sits further back than the Sport, so they're a bit easier to clean. I always had polish that got stuck under the y-pipe on the Sports, which drove my OCD nuts.

Did you have any issues getting the exhaust mounted so the tips don’t stick out so far? I was watching your vid and around the 4:45 mark the tips look like they’re sitting in recessed but then in the next frames (after the 4:48 mark) they look like they’re sitting further out. I love the Corsa exhaust but that’s about the only thing I never liked is how far the tips stick out. I had to modify the ones on my C7 Z06.

im actually shopping around for an Extreme system for a C6 Z06 with the black tips (21077BLK). Nobody seems to have them in stock. One of the cheapest places I’ve found so far is CSPracing. When are you getting more in? Price?

There's some adjustability to them and I don't like them sticking out either. I think I have them pretty flush with the diffuser now and am happy.

Xtremes with polished & black tips are on order, ETA is the middle of the month.

I'd be happy to match or try to beat their price. I'll send you a PM

I think the sports actually have a better tone than the xtremes. But I love the decel pops of the xtremes. I have my muffler modded NPP's so I have no dog in the race but both will definitely get the job done. I wonder how the new Kooks Shotgun NPP is going to take off for those who wants valves.

I'm starting to think there's something seriously wrong with my Z06. The drone at 1500rpm with the Sports was utterly unbearable, and my setup is very similar to yours. I had to go back to stock NPP just to make it drivable. I wonder what the difference is?

This isn’t what I want to hear! I’m having the Sports installed on my 08’ Z w/RPM’s Stage 3 HCI, 2” Kooks with high flow green cats. Sure hope there isn’t any drone and from what I’ve read most folks report little to no drone at cruising speeds. For those that have the Sports, is there any popping on deceleration? Ideally there’d be some and I know on rev matching downshifts there’ll likely be some.

Maybe they're rubbing and/or have a leak/broken baffles?

Not sure but my car was more than manageable with the B3 cam, ARH 1 7/8th Headers & catless x-pipe. Yes if you lug it under load, say uphill in 6th at 1,500rpm there's a mild hum but at that point, should have bought a Lexus or Cadillac if you want it whisper quiet.

Here's in cabin cruising at ~70 mph/1,500rpm with the Sport.

Yes I had a lot of pops/overrun on decel but my car is also catless. Cats will take the edge off a bit but still will be pretty aggressive. I wouldn't anticipate much of any drone with that set up - see my video above

I posted my videos of before and after with the Sport vs NPP closed in that other thread I started: 10db difference at 1500rpm cruising the freeway. Livernois stg 2 heads, BTR stg 2 cam, ARH 1-7/8 long tubes with high flow cat x-pipe. Clearly there's something up with my system, but I think it's upstream. I sold my Sport and the guy who bought them hasn't said a thing about drone.

Wanted to drive the car a fair amount before responding with my follow up thoughts on the Corsa Sports. I had them installed back on April 9th and I’ve driven the car 10-12 times since then. The short answer is, that I freaking love the Corsa Sports with my setup. RPM Stage 3 package w/2” Kooks LTH, high flow cats. Car sounds great at idle, sounds phenomenal WOT and ultra quiet when cruising. No drone at all to report, even at 1,200 RPM cruising at 60MPH. I’ve never heard the X Tremes in person, but I couldn’t be happier with my decision to go with the Sports.

How loud is a cold start? What did you have before to compare? I’m considering trying Sports on my H/C Z…went from modded NPP to Borla Atak. Don’t get me wrong, the Atak sounds absolutely incredible but it’s definitely loud…all the time. I wonder if the Sports would be a good compromise between stock and the Atak?

Sports will have way less drone than Ataks. I've run them back to back. Louder on the outside, quieter on the inside.

Corsa is unparalleled when it comes to mitigating drone in the cabin while still screaming when you get on it. I couldn't have been happier with them

I'll give ya a good deal on a set of Sports or Xtremes - have some in stock too and will beat any price.

Feel free to give me a shout to discuss

Drone isn’t the issue, very little of that. It’s the full volume all the time. In my younger years I’d have never considered switching. Very deep tone, ungodly scream above 3K (in a good way), idle is crisp and really showcases the cam chop; just a few ticks higher on the scale than I’m looking for these days. But modded NPP wasn’t enough, gotta find that sweet spot in the middle.
