Nice looking car!

You probably want the Mods to move your post to the "C7 For Sale" section

Hey is this still available and if so are you flexible on your price? I’m 17 and looking for a fun car for high school however I don’t have a ton of money because I do need to set some aside for rent and college and such. Thanks!

It sounds like a Mazda Miata might be more your speed. Even if you had the cash, a 17 yo new driver should not get anywhere near a 400+hp car . Source: myself when I was 17

I had a 73 Matador wagon with a manual trans (3 on the tree) I bought for $300 from my brother when I was in college. Times have really changed.

Agreed completely! I drove a 68 GTO 400 Ram air III, Hurst 4spd at age 16. (Paid $4,500 for it, and it was 95% condition.) I’m lucky to be here. Absolutely no way did I have the skill (at that age), nor maturity to own something like that, but I got lucky, many times. He definitely needs a Mazda Miata, as the traffic has tripled since I was ripping back roads at age 16, hoping my non anti-lock, drum brakes stopped the cammed beast that barely produced brake booster pressure… 37 years later, I’ve got a modded C5 that spins at 65mph, and scares the life out of me at times. Can’t imagine a 17 year-old getting pressured to drag race, and a lightweight, 400hp+ car goes into yaw at higher speeds… he should consider the fact that chics dig Miata’s. (I am divorced, 3 sons in professional jobs, and occasionally borrow my car collector neighbor’s MX-5 grand touring. What a blast to drive, and I will note, females like to comment on that car much more than my C5. Not suggesting a 17yr old male would buy a Miata to pick up females, but considering their reactions to the MX vs my C5, he’s likely going to the Mazda dealership - soon! lol)

YES! Well remembered! Shifting a manual column 3spd is an art form. You’re considered highly skilled in that shifter setup, as next to no one (these days) including myself could remember how to shift a manual column setup.

I remember those days as well. Had an 87 Camaro Z28 when I was 17. I was a good kid and didn't do stupid stuff, but that wasn't a 460 hp Corvette. How does a kid at 17 afford that in this day and age anyhow? You don't want to put yourself in that kind of debt that young. He might not live to see 18 in that car and no one wants that! PS. I remember how to shift a column shift, its pretty easy actually.

Reading this reminds me a lot of when my dad tells me stories about his era , very similar reaction to newer cars as well! He had. 70 Chevelle SS 454 since I was a kid, only sold it recently. That car was fast in a straight line but he couldn't believe how my c5z stopped and cornered.

Once he came with me to a road course for open lapping, I got my brake points figured out then took him for a few laps. On the long straight we get up to about 130-140 before braking hard down to 65 or so for a hard right corner. The first lap he was bracing the dashboard yelling at me, "we're not gonna stop!!" 😳

After he calmed down later he was telling me how if he ever tried something like that in one of his old cars all you would see was a little black strip near the turn with a car 400 feet out in the field 😂

He would tell stories about his old nova ? Or maybe a Malibu.. once you got up to about 90-100 mph the car was so sloppy and loose the car would just drift around the road on its own, so you always had to be ready 👀

Anyway, sorry to clutter up your sale thread here Robert. just wanted to share that
