Last test drive after red wire replacement, car pulls to the right. No visible leak at caliper but rotor felt slippery. Pulled the pads, they were wet. Took caliper off , pulled seal. And jelly like goo behind pistons. Off to Zip to get o ring conversion kit. They only had 1 kit. Checked online several vendors list them, cssb, lone star, and top flight. Prices and shipping vary. Question is are they all the same ( one manufacturer several marketers) and how do you identify what brake fluid is in system? Thanks Chuck
Got mine at Van Steel. Local for me. They are located in sunny Clearwater, Florida. Depending upon where you live, may be an excuse to pick them up in person and spend a few days at the beach. Jerry
Hi Jerry,
My name is Wayne and I live in Tampa so we may have met at car shows. Ive owned my Yellow 67 Coupe for 30 years now and feel the need to rebuild or replace my brake calipers. Are you still a fan of Van Steel? If not, who do you recommend? I also hear good things about Lone Star and CSSB.
I think all the kits are made by a machine shop in Massachusetts that supplies o-rings not compatible with DOT-5. Replace the o-rings with o-rings made of EPDM rubber and you can use DOT-5 silicone fluid if you prefer

The size number of the front caliper O-rings is AS568-325. The rear is AS568-318. You can get them online at theoringstore.com. The important part is the material. They must be EPDM rubber. The best material is peroxide cured EPDM rubber. The size numbers do not specify the material. You must choose the material first, then the size.
