I know the covers, foam, etc are different from 64-67 but does anyone know if the actual seat frames are the same? In other words-can I put '67 foam and covers on a '64 seat frame? Thanks

Can you tell me what the differences are between '64 and '67 seat frames? I have a '64 that I got '64 leather seat covers and foam from Knoch and my upholsterer is pulling his hair out trying to make them fit....

63 are different. 65 to 66 are the same. 64 are almost the same as 65 66. 67 are completely different. Roy

If your upholsterer is having that much of a problem I would be looking for a new upholsterer. That tells me he does not know what he is doing. I do a lot of these seats and almost exclusively use Al Knoch. I never have a problem getting them to fit.

The biggest difference in the seats is that 67s have seat tracks that bolt on. The other mid year seats have integral tracks. You can install different year seat covers on frames. I have don it several times.

Your upholsterer may have the same problem I have. He is getting old. When I restored my 65 convertible back in 1996 I had no problem installing new foam and seat covers. I drove the car for 27 years and decided it needed new seat covers again, so I got new covers from Al Knoch and thought it would be a simple weekend project.

Well, I didn't consider that I was 27 years older with arthritis. This was a very difficult task. My mind knew this was an easy task, but my body would not cooperate. I did complete the task, but if I had to do it again I would pay a "young" professional.

I wish I was an octopus putting on my 67 covers.. fought like the dickens and needed to have several appendages to hold parts of them down and weigh down other areas as I tried to stretch the covers to fit...

I am very interested in your decision and outcome. My 64 seats were stolen during restoration of my 64. I have not been able to find presentable 64 seat frames. I have the complete Al Knoch interior for my 64. I have an opportunity to buy some 67 frames. Since my car is not an NCRS original restoration, I am considering purchasing the 67 frames. I actually like the option of the seat back latch and feel the hole necessary for the latch a easy fix or, abandon the latch. I have the foam and leather for a 64. Originality not necessarily a concern. The 64 has 4 wheel disc brake upgrade, Vintage Air, Griffin radiator with stal fan, Tremec 5 speed and so on... Completely stock exterior. Mostly stock interior.

Don't flame me too badly those changes are in. Car is nearly finished. Except the seats....

Looks good to me! Nothing says every one has to be exactly original.
