This is my last set. These are assembly line 68 (maybe early 69?) front grilles. In my opinion the hardest 68 part to find because they were replaced differently and are not reproduced ( maybe except the L79 carb or 68 AC bezel but that’s a different story).
These are flimsy and broke so GM beefed them up for 69 and service replacements.
All three parts here. The good is one side is completely intact. The center is completely intact. The other side has a small section missing BUT I will include a donor piece for you to repair it. Silver paint is there on one side and the center but pretty much not on the other so that would need redone as well. Another good is all the mounting tabs are perfect.
These are stupid hard to find. They are dusty. The photo with my finger is pointing to the donor piece which is included.
Bummed! My 68 grill is broken in exactly the same spot. My other ones are in good shape.
These 68 grills are so hard to find.
John, how are folks fixing these small broken pieces?
Thank you
If I were to fix this one I would use a plastic model saw to cut a section from the donor. Maybe recut the broken area to square it up nicely. Pretty sure JB Weld makes a version for plastic. If not, a good epoxy.
I had one years ago that had a missing tab. I used a donor piece with epoxy and fitted a tab onto it.
I really don’t think this would be a heavy lift on the ones I am selling, especially since it’s not “structural “ meaning not a mounting tab.
