Default Center Exhaust

Is the center exhaust option really $2K? Am I seeing that correctly?

I swapped out my Stingray's Z51 "performance exhaust" with a Z06 center exit exhaust. This swap also involved replacing the lower diffuser with a Z06 diffuser as well as a few other parts but basically it bolts right in without any major modifications to anything. All in the cost was just over $2100 for everything needed. I turned around and sold my old exhaust and diffuser for $500 which lowered my overall cost to $1600. It definitely sounds better/louder and as others have said, it puts more sound into the cabin of the car, plus it's still technically OEM. That being said, the $2000 option seems reasonable to me.

That's the way I saw it as well, it's such a cool look but for $2k I will keep the side exits and be happy with it.

I wonder if the sound from the center exhaust is better thought I saw that somewhere.

Yeah they definitely are reaching at that price. I’m gonna pay it because it looks, and allegedly sounds, better

It’s being reported the Center exhaust has a more aggressive sound than the base side exhaust setup. Given the cost of aftermarket, the center exhaust is a bargain for the sound along with the aesthetics.

That's the price I've seen two different dealers price lists, so have to assume it is correct. Higher than I expected, but I've wanted one all the way back to when the Z06 first introduced with. Just like the look better, and any sound improvement would be icing on top. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you'd find many aftermarket C8 exhausts, certainly not center-exhaust conversions, for $2K or less.

probably not. And if you go to center exhaust, you have to change the rear diffuser, also, but everything goes zo6, then the rear diffuser is a stock z06.The exhaust is stock z06

Black tips are standard on all Stingrays, GSs, Z06s, etc in 2027 I "think".

This right here is the confusing bit. No way "bright" center exhaust is $395 and "black" (aka standard) center exhaust is 2k.

Far more likely scenario is that 2k is for center exit, and if you want "bright" (likely polished chrome) center exit it is ANOTHER $395 on top of the 2k center exit option. Time will tell.

As far as the tip colors, black is standard and chrome is the upgraded option.

Default Trunk space with center exhaust

Anybody know if the center exhaust affects the depth of the trunk vs the "standard" exhaust routing to the rear corners? I think I read somewhere when the Z06 first came out, someone commented the trunk depth was impacted by the center exhaust.

it’s not that confusing. It says requires WUB. That’s center exhaust. So yes you are right that it’s 1995 plus 395.

I asked that question a while back on the C8 General forum. The replies that I got from owners that have had both types of exhaust is that there is no discernable difference in trunk temperature.

Do we have any confirmation that center exhaust is louder / has a different tone? If it is just for the looks I am not paying $2k. $2K can go a long way towards a proper aftermarket exhaust.

Go to chevy website for the GS and they have a sound clip of the exhaust.

Bigger issue I see is your legs get burnt if getting something out of the trunk with engine running.
