Up for sale is my Borla S-Type catback for the Stingray. It includes both the AFM and NPP connections. I had it on my car for about 6k miles. In good overall shape. There is a small ding on the topside of the muffler (can’t be seen when installed) and it is missing one of the heat shields ($212 if you want a replacement from Borla). Everything works great and it adds a wonderful exhaust note to the car. Deep and aggressive.
Located in Algonquin, IL. Will ship at buyers expense.
Looking for $2750. Please message me with any questions.
I notice on Borla's website they say to not install these on cars that don't have factory NPP. What's the issue with that? Won't the valves just stay open all the time? Or is there another problem?
I went ahead and called Borla for you. They said that it would likely work, but they would not recommend it because if the valve did end up getting stuck closed or something like that, you would have no control over it. Basically they were continuing to say they just don’t recommend it because you would not have control over the valves. It did sound like it would work though.
Thanks, I just wrote them too. Are the valves spring-loaded such that they are open by default? That was always my understanding of how the factory NPP exhausts worked. I would assume the aftermarket ones are similar. Are the C8 NPP controls still vacuum or are they electronic now?
I just heard back from them. They said the valves would be "flapping in the wind" and making a lot of noise. They must not use a vacuum actuator like the older-gen NPP. Those were held closed with spring tension until the vacuum solenoid opened them. Sounds like these operate differently now.
it’s the black shield that covers the center pipes. Not needed but some people prefer it for added heat resistance. Crystal Lake Brake and Auto installed it for me.
