I recently recharged my battery after it sat all winter (yes, I should have had on a trickle charger and I should have started it regularly!) and now the remote does not work.
I replaced the battery and tried to enter FOB training, but the car won't let me. Also, I cannot enter the TPMS training mode. Has anyone else had this issue?
It's rather inconvenient and I'm not sure if the security system is armed when the doors are locked. Plus, I keep getting that annoying alert to reset the TPMS (which I can't do!).
Thanks for any assistance provided.
The battery was installed last fall. Everything else on the car works, just those two things don't.
all you have to do is reprogram the remote there's nothing wrong with it. this happen to me. I googled how to reprogrammed and worked like a chram. Give it a try before spending money
Whenever I've had issues with my fob after the battery was disconnected, I hold the lock and unlock on the fob at the same time right next to the drivers door handle and when the horn honks, it's reattached to the car. I didn't go into the fob learning on the dash with the key. Not sure what to tell you about the TPMS. I haven't had any issues with mine yet so I haven't had to dig into that system at all.
As said above, use a proper battery maintainer (smart charger) only. If car is in winter storage mode, DO NOT start your car unless you are driving it, or absolutley need to start it to move it or working on it. Partially heating it up, then shutting it off can cause moisture in the engine case, etc. Read: https://www.onallcylinders.com/2021/...inter-storage/
If you want to circulate the oil, use the "flood clear mode" by flooring the throttle pedal and crank it, watch for oil pressure to build up. The engine will not fire but oil will circulate. :
Thanks for all the advice. I disconnected the battery for a couple minutes and when it was reconnected, everything worked.
That's what I like about this forum!
