This is for a dedicated track car
I want to install a quick release hub onto my stock steering column in my C6. I plan on eliminating the turn signal and wiper stalks. I'd like to retain the tilt and other column adjustability.
I'll using a aftermarket steering wheel and losing the airbag. What is the preferred way to go about this? Is there a bolt on adapter for the splined column to QD hub?
Any help is appreciated
Most C6 setups like what you’re describing don’t have a true direct “bolt-on” quick release that keeps everything factory and fully intact. What people usually do is run a C6-specific splined hub adapter, then mount a quick release system (NRG-style or similar) on top of that with an aftermarket wheel. You’ll definitely be deleting the stalks if you go that route, and the airbag system goes with it, so just be sure you’re fully committed to a track-only setup. Tilt adjustability can still work, but it depends on how tall your hub + quick release stack ends up being low profile parts help a lot here.
If you want it cleanest, the key is minimizing spacer height and using a hub made specifically for the C6 column rather than trying to adapt something universal.
for anyone watching I ordered the NRG hub adapter David Farmer suggested. Also the NRG SFI Quick release. Installation was pretty easy.
