Quick Question - I got an oil change last year around June-ish but really didn't put a whole lot of miles on the car since - In fact, I only have 6700 total miles on her so far and its a 2024. Technically, it saying that I only have 30% oil life left therefore requiring an oil change but if no real miles were actually put on the car, is the oil still necessary right now?
Thoughts?
Yes oil degrades over time and can absorb moisture and become less effective which is why all manufacturers have a mileage and time period for oil changes. Will your engine blow immediately? Probably not but also not recommended.
I bought a new leftover 25 Z06 in early December with just 7 miles on the clock. It basically sat all winter in my garage until last week. I put just 113 miles on her and the oil life dropped to 8% oil life remaining. Seemed like a waste but I changed the oil anyways just to be safe and followed the oil life monitor. The car was built in May of 25 so I guess the one year mark was about to be reached.
Take a look at your oil temp readings while you are driving. They do not get near as hot as in the old days when the higher temps.(200 degrees) burned of the condensate formed in the oil. Mine are rarely over 150 degrees, so I change mine often, regardless of the computer.

GM's minimum requirement is once a year, the OLM is programmed for that. 0 miles added, it will hit 0% at 12 months since last reset.
The OLM has other factors( more than just miles), but time is driving yours.
Change it if you don't want to risk the warranty.
I am not sure that above statement is correct. My 2024 Z06 first oil change was done at 3400 miles last June 2025. It was reset back to 100%.. Its now May 2026, my car has 6500 mikes on it and my oil indicator is at 50%. if your statement is correct my indicator will drop 50% in one month.
i think time is a factor but mileage is also a factor that drives oil life.

Then your OLM has glitched or stuck which has happened before. After the last OTA my car received, the OLM went back to 100%. After a few drives, it went back to the 68% that it was at prior to the OTA.
I changed the oil at the end of November. I’ve only added 400 miles since taking it out of hibernation and my OLM is at the appropriate 75%.
