Fair Compensation?
Just got my sky cool grey interior back from the dealer following service. I found door handle, center console and seat bolsters covered with black oily dirt. The detail guy wiped things as best he could. Bottom line is the stitching is most likely permanently discolored. Looking for thoughts on what members feel I should ask regarding compensation.
I'd be demanding they return the car in the condition it was dropped off.
ABSO-FREAKING-LUTELY!!!
There is no compensation enough for them messing up the interior like that, I'd be having a meltdown fit over this with the service manager.
At the very least, they need to have a pro detail shop clean it, a good detailer can get it done, but not the make-ready guy at the dealer.
The only compensation here would be to re-imburse you for the cleaning cost. Thats about it. I would talk to their manager or owner to let them know what you are going to do and call it day I would also suggest that you ceramic coat the interior of the car. It may not have helped in this situation of the stitches, as it sounds it was really bad. However it will make it easier to clean moving forward. Good luck

I agree - at a minimum they should have those interior parts professionally cleaned to restore them to the condition they were in before the service visit or replace them if the stains cannot be fully removed.
I would take all the advice given above and add one thing. Work directly with the General Manager of the dealership and not the service or sales manager. If they try to block you from dealing with the GM do not give in, be persistent.
Hopefully you took pictures before they wiped it down the first time, I would also take more pictures of the damage now.
This is a good reminder for us all, if you are taking you car to the dealer for any level of service make sure to take some “before” pictures in case you have to prove any damage was not preexisting...
The compensation will be they take it to the detailer of their choosing and they do the best they can or if you have a preferred one you take it there and they pick up the tab but get agreement in advance if you take it.
