Default Sharing my first Road Course experience with my 1 of 1 C5 Z

This car has a story that must be told.

my uncle had a body shop from the early 1980s to 2011. In 2003 we had flooding in Houston and a customer brought two of his vehicles because of water intrusion. One of those cars was this factory silver 2001 Z. My uncle and my cousin convinced the owner of this Z06 to sell it to them for about $20,000. The car had 1,000 miles.
My cousin stripped this car down, never filed an insurance claim, and pulled all the carpets & seats and made sure this car was in pristine condition under the carpet. The car was never flooded and everything on the inside was clean and dry when he got through with it. He painted the car this color and it’s still going 20 years strong.

Upgrades:
Exhaust is Borla Stingers. The brakes were upgraded to C6 Z06 brake calipers, steel braided brake lines, LGG5X3 cam, hand ported the heads, and has been a garage queen for over 20 years. This car is a time capsule from 2006.

All the upgrades and details of this car has been done by his hands only. He’s got a wife and two kids and the car has been sitting in the garage for years. In the last 10 years, I think only 1000 miles has been added. He understood that the car cannot sit like this any longer and was willing to part with it. he listed it a few times online and every time he pulled the car out to take photographs of it, he found himself pulling it back in and not posting it for sale.

I bought the car from him December 2025, and I promised him that I would take care of it. He was happy that it’s going to stay in the family and the car is going to be put to use. This past weekend I took it to MSR Houston for an introductory road course and performance driving class. My father is the photographer and he also came and took photographs of the car on the course. This car is finally out of the stable and doing what it was always dreamt and built to do.

The car has 49k total miles.

Enjoy the photos

Nice car. I am surprised no one is wearing a helmet.

They nailed the color. I love it. Very few have done similar.

The nose looks slick with the license plate filler molded in. It's a very nice touch.
