Default Seperate C1 and C2 makes sense!

Guys and gals - I realize that this topic has been raised before ... but ... with the recent demise of the long running Solid Axle Corvette Club (SACC) as a great source of comradery and expertise for the solid axle crowd, it seems that the topic of separating the only co-joined Corvette Forum group might be reconsidered.

C1s and C2s, while both extraordinary in there own right, are in fact very different technologies and design requiring unique expertise and experience and advice. A glaring example - front and rear suspension for one! I am fortunate to be owner of a C1,C2 and C3 and greatly appreciate the specialized and unique focus and concentration of expertise a single focused platform can provide for each marque. Unique "parts wanted" and "for sale" and "cars wanted for sale" would be easier access and focus as well.

Separate C1 and C2 forums in my experience would not discourage of prevent moving easily from one forum to another at will. Each could better serve an even stronger and focused resources and interest.

Your thoughts?

I've never seen the need to separate the two generations and I still don't. I'm interested in both generations. I find it very convenient to have one destination at which I can discuss both.

I don't understand the reference to the demise of SACC.

Clicking on the C1 or the C2 moniker solves it for me

My bigger issue is people asking questions but not providing basic info like year, engine, and model.

I'm all for it.

Too many posts do not add the "C1" or "C2" prefix so often there's time wasted clicking on non-relevant questions/topics.

Jim - reference to SACC was the announcement published Wednesday online by the registry of Corvette " Corvette Club Calls It Quits" and the recent SACC publication notice that the organization will likely come to an end after 2026.

It was a reminder to me that that focused C1 group likely will no longer exist - therefore I offered thoughts on how a separate C1 forum might be helpful as described under the Corvette Forum banner.

I'm well aware of the imminent demise of SACC. I've been a member since it was founded.

What I don't see is a logical connection between that event and splitting the forum into two pieces.

I also would want to avoid a split of the 2 generations.......I grew up through both!

I agree there should have been separate C1 and C2 groups, but if it were done now, how would you ensure all the old C1 threads and C2 threads got into the appropriate new group? Damn near impossible. I think it’s too late to separate them now.

I would vote to keep the forum the way it is. I have both C1 and C2 Corvettes and I enjoy seeing all the information together.

Instead of splitting them the Corvette Forum could just make a stickee thread up top where every time this is brought up it can go to die, again. Sorry, but not a fan of the idea and can't figure out why people keep bringing this up.

You'll will miss a lot of posts doing that. I'd guess 20% of people use those tags, 80% are untagged.
I don't mind reading C2 posts... but it would be nice if they were tagged as such.

I’m fine with the way it is..No other generations share the creativity that C1 and C2 share. JMHO! If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

I agree, this question has come up several times through the years.
Also, there are 2 sides to this and both pro and con comments.
I AM NOT, repeat, AM NOT a C-person----------never have been and I have always opposed it------------but I'm out numbered.
for example, when someone asks about a C1, what are they talking about----------a 53, 55, 57, 60, 62?????????? What? There are minimal as well as distinct differences between the 53-62 models, and I prefer to refer to a car by year model, NOT a C category. If nothing else, changed the groups to 53-62, 63-67, 68-82 and so on.
I would favor a separation between the 53-62 and 63-67 groups, but alas, it's not likely to be done.

Regarding the discontinuance of the SACC organization, and it's relationship to the 53-62 group on this forum, I hate to see it go away. I was an original member (#107) when Roy Brattz formed it, beginning as SACE. I felt it provided (or at least potentially provided) a lot of value to the 53-62 section on this forum. NCRS really missed the boat when they were such hard core fanatics about NOTHING but factory correctness was acceptable. For SACC, their philosophy was the same as mine---------A CORVETTE IS A CORVETTE IS A CORVETTE-----------------no matter what its configuration! Just a simple example, a 57 Corvette with its original 283 replaced with a 350-----------------IS STILL A CORVETTE!!!!!!! Finally, they have seen the light, but over the years, they also turned off and turned away a lot of potential members. SACC was good for the hobby!

Man. 25 years into this, I'd say leave it as it is...no need to separate. There's enough topics combined to keep the forum somewhat active - if separated, I feel it would be pretty quiet, IMO. And, sorry to hear that the SACC is ceasing operations.

I like it the way it is. Like many of you, I have a solid axle and a midyear. I like seeing all the topics for both in the same place. Even combined, the C1 C2 Forum doesn't generate enough activity to merit 2 separate Forums.

Be better off spending the time to add a Restomod section. It would be nice to talk about using SBC, BBC, LS and LT engines , aftermarket frames or using a stock frame with different suspension... Using C4, C5, Or C6 suspension and what and how you have encountered.... THIS is the up and coming and most popular thing being done to cars nowadays.....
I had a question about a C4 engine cradle, so I left it on the C4 section..... No response . I don't think alot of them work on there cars as we do on the C1-C3 cars
