Opinion Driving without the Front License Plate in NJ.
Hello,
I live in NJ a two plate required state. Well I was checking all the Corvettes from my Corvette club (lots of C8's) that were parked at our Cars & Coffee and noticed I am the only one that has the front plate on their car.
My question: Is it worth the risk to take it off. I kind of don't want a ticket or get hasseled . Thanks
Steve
I keep mine on. But that is not the norm- even here in NJ. Many others have posted they do not use the front plate, and have never had a problem. Some have posted that they remove it for shows only. No one really seems to use the factory front braket however, they just slightly warp the plate and screw into the lower bumper after removing the back plastic filler piece. So it's up to you. I just don't want to give them an excuse to pull me over ... but that's just me.
I never put a front plate on my corvettes for decades in NJ but I did have more than a few PBA cards all that time I only got 1 ticket for it . Just make sure everything else is right
I live in NJ and there are many Vettes without front plates. I suspect most never get ticketed. I have a front plate because I want to minimize attention from the police. I don't use the ugly front plate mounting bracket. I use the bent plate mounting method which doesn't look too bad in my opinion.
You seem to have answered your own question with your last line above. But, who is to say that some of those with their cars parked at a gathering drove them as you see them there? Just sayin'...
I'm in North NJ. Never put front plate on my performance cars in 20+ years, and my daily driver is a S8 - no plate either. Not once has a cop mentioned it, family member PBA cards definitely help.
