C6 Corvette ZR1 & Z06General info about GM’s Corvette Supercar, LS9 Corvette Technical Info, Performance Upgrades, Suspension Setup for Street or Track
On the highway near my house yesterday. Don’t know the car / owner, but fire department said he “self extricated”. Glad it appears he was not hurt and suggest he might want to stop by church today, as this could have easily been fatal. These cars, with their wide low profile tires are prone to hydroplaning, especially on our local roads that pool water.
As the F15E pilot downed on April 6th in Iran stated when rescued, "God is good"!
Any high HP car driven in the wet, regardless of the "best" tires on the car, should be driven with EXTREME caution and Slowly. I learned this racing formula dodges (my avatar) spinning on the track, practicing, in moderate standing water, easily, at SLOW speeds in the rain with Ultra HP Street tires.

Recovering loss of traction w/o damage w/ a LS7 is called 'experience'.
Doing it twice is called 'stupidity'.
I'm stupid, did it twice w/o calamity.
No more, learned I did.
Years ago, in Colorado, with my almost new Z07 I got caught in a servere, unexpected, downpour; my first hydroplaning experience with these cars, very unnerving. I would not drive faster than 40-45 mph in rain on these kinds of very wide tires and slower on any curves.
I drove both the 2006 and 2011 Hot Rod Power Tour With My C6-Z. Total of approximately 6800 miles. There were several instances where we encountered severe downpours in locations and on roads were we not familiar with. Slowing way down and being careful was the key to getting through it unscathed. In defense of this driver, the area of the road he was on is treacherous and the guard rail (guide rail in legal terms) does little or nothing, as can be seen in the accident pics. But he def should have been going slower and the rain was not torrential as I was in a restaurant less than a mile away.
