Default 67 Corvette - Holley carb - fuel line to pump?

The metal line that connects my two carb bowls was leaking so I've replaced it and checked that the filters in the carb were new and clean. I'd like to replace the rubber fuel line and plastic filter with a stock fuel line from the carb line directly to the fuel pump. The line I ordered from Zip for a 67 big block is not correct for this carb setup, which I suspect is not stock (car is new to me). I ordered part # Z-129 but its unclear to me what fuel line from the pump I should have ordered for this setup. Any suggestions?

Carb is a modern replacement. The setup you probably want is from a 1966 427 engine (probably the 425 HP version, which I know has the duel inlet feeds). Your fuel pump may not hookup without adapters or modifications.

Let's see what others say.

yes that duel feed Holley is not stock to any corvette in 67. you should have a Holley 3811. however the oem line for a 66 l72 corvette should work

On the principle that one can never have too many tools, you might want to order a double flare tool, some inverted flare nuts, and some copper nickel tubing (easier than steel) and do your own. This will also allow you to install an all-metal filter in the line. Though not strictly necessary for copper nickel but nice to have is a tubing bender as well. You will find many uses for these tools.

The carb looks like a Barry Grant. A big block dual feed setup should work. Its what I have on my car.

I completely agree on tools. I have an manual tubing bender and flare tool, I have built and replaced brake lines on my 1953 Chevy pickup. I know that the fittings on the dual carb line are 5/8-18, is that whats on the fuel pump too? I'm not in my shop until tomorrow, but I assume the fuel line is 3/8 tubing?

You should look at your fuel pump to see if it feeds, up or laterally. The 427/425 fuel line requires a separate 90 degree elbow at the fuel pump that connects to the line. If your pump lacks that 90 degree elbow it can be difficult to find. If the pump lacks the 90 deg elbow and feeds out laterally, then an L88 fuel line plumbs right up to it and has a 90 deg bend formed in it to attach to the pump.

I believe that the 1966 and 1967 fuel pumps are different. So running the 1966 427/425 HP fuel Iines from a 1967 fuel pump will likely require modifications/revisions. I do not know how extensive these will be, but consider it as part of your overall planning. Spend some time looking at the two different year fuel pumps and see how the connections are oriented and their elevation.

The last time I needed the 90 degree elbow I purchased it from NAPA. But it should be available on-line as well.

Several issues may hamper the fuel line swap.

first, the factory carb will have a rear metering block . Your carb has an internal metering plate, and as such the center to center distance between your fuel inlets is about 1/2” shorter than an “ original” Holley.

note the secondary metering block at my finger.

note, I am showing a ‘66 Chevelle 396/375hp carb (3613), but should be representative of a 427/425hp carb.

here’s a reproduction fuel line setup. This is by Fine Lines, but Inline Tube and others sell these.

note, these two feed lines are 5/16” IF…. Only 3/8” from the pump to the brass Y-block.

several ways you can go.

you can change your carb fittings to 5/16” ( they are probably 3/8” on your BGrant carb.),
OR
Some of those hardline suppliers, IIRC, offered a set that uses 3/8” dual feed lines…

At least one of those same companies also offered a shorter line set to work on a carb without the rear metering block ( such as yours)…

I forget who, and it’s been 12+ years since I was looking.

now, as for the fuel pump…. Again, this is based on a 66 and 67 Chevelle (396/375hp L78).

the ‘66 used a 90degree brass elbow, npt pipe thread in the fuel pump and 3/8”IF output vertically to the main feed line up to the brass Y-block.

I forget the brand ( Weatherhead? Edelman-Plews?), but here is an elbow. Note, you cannot thread this fitting into an 3/8” IF threaded fuel pump, it must be 1/4” npt.

note the 3/8” IF flare seat, hard to see the npt male threads.

for ‘67, the fuel pump changed and featured a horizontal 3/8”IF seat in the pump itself ( no more separate adapter “ elbow”), and the line itself had a 90 degree bend at the bottom where it exited the pump and turned up to the carb.

Once again, this is based on my Chevelles, but should be similar to an L72 Corvette.

one finally note, it appears you are using the factory cast iron intake.

ALL the dual feed Holley carbs came on Aluminum high rise intakes, which are slightly taller than the cast iron, so there may be fitment issues for the repro line using the shorter manifold.

Good catch on the metering plate - I didn’t look at the rear of the carb close enough.
