Default Lectric Limited Wiring Harnesses, Now No Power Anywhere

I finished installing my new Lectric Limited engine and dash harnesses. Everything went smoothly and perfectly. All connectors went where they should have. No surprises, no extra connectors. YET, I decided to connect the battery to check lighting, and there is zero power in the dash (no lit bulbs in the dash, headlights or tail lights. And no power at the starter solenoid R, S, or battery terminals. No power at the horn relay. whaaaa? The battery is a new and fully-charged yellow top. The only question I had (before now) is what to do with the black wire with a large eyelet - wrapped together with the yellow (R), red (center), and purple (S). I had the black grounded to a starter mounting bolt.

can anyone walk me through troubleshooting this problem, please?

Either the negative ground under the battery compartment isn't cleanly connected to the frame or the positive wire from the battery to the starter solenoid has an issue..

The black wire bundled with the solenoid wires should be a ground to a starter bolt, so that's good. Battery positive directly to the solenoid stud. Do you have the secondary negative ground cable from the frame to the block? (attached under the passenger engine mount horn to the block)

You don't, by chance, have a battery disconnect in place, do you?

Now, let this be a lesson to me: When you’re feeling tired, stop working! So, as it turns out, the harnesses are put together properly, and the yellow, red, and purple (cloth-covered) wires are exactly where they should be. The issue I had could not have been dumber or more obvious. The positive battery cable was not connected together with the red from the engine harness to the starter solenoid. Hook that up and the wiring harnesses get powered up. Thanks for your help!

OK, I spoke too soon…. I need your advice! As I said a couple of days ago, I now have power when I turn the key to on. Yay, lights! However, I also have a few issues:
  • when I turn the key to activate the starter, there is nothing - no starter turning at all;
  • I thought it might be the clutch safety switch, but it’s the same when I use a jumper there;
  • ‘no instrument lights. When I jump the red to the dark green in the headlight switch, they all Wouk, though;
  • the front parking lights are on even with the key out completely;
  • the front turn signals don’t work, the rears do, but the hazard lights work on all four corners;
  • the horn relay buzzes with the key out;
I checked the wiring in the steering column at the dark blue and light blue wires to be sure there is signal going with the turn signals switched on. I checked before the harmonic connector and after, and the tester blinks as it should.i ordered a new headlight switch and horn buzzer, just in case those are messed up somehow. The buzzer did not work before changing the dash and engine harnesses, and the turn signals worked fine. Also, the front parking lights were fine and the starter worked fine too.

I’m wondering if my problems are caused by my use of a 1970 harness in my December 1969 car. The only difference I know of is the routing of the 1970 harness is higher than the 1969 behind the Speedo and tach. Is that possible that there are wiring differences causing my issues? If so, how do I fix them?

can anyone please walk me through the troubleshooting steps to get the starter/ignition to work, as well as to get my front turn signals blinking, the front parking lights to go off, and to get the key buzzer in the horn relay to be quiet when the key is out? For now, I unplugged the buzzer, but that isn’t good.

thank you for any and all help you can give to me!
