Default Check Engine Light

My 2017 Stingray has been a terrific car since I got it in 2019. Came to me with 3541 miles already showing. Other than tires it has not given me any trouble until 2024 when the "check engine" light came on. A code check showed transmission. The light went out. Same thing happened in 2025, and again now in 2026. There has never been problems in normal operation of the vehicle with or without the light. The only similarity in these three incidents is that the car had recently come out of a 5 month winter hibernation. I have been given several different guesses on the cause and solution for this and the costs range from OK to a new C-8. Now, someone in the dealership where I got it told me this is somewhat common for C-7s. His belief is they do not like to sit. Has anyone on the forum ever experienced this problem?

Buy a cheap code reader on Amazon or Harbor Freight so you can see exactly what the code is

I'll bet that its the thermistor in the lower wiring harness inside the trans.

If you determine it is the thermistor it would be a good time to get the triple flush with Mobil1 Blue Label if it has ever been done.

I do not know the exact digits of the code, just that it reads "transmission".

P0700 and P0711 will be the codes for a bad temperature sending unit in the transmission harness.

The exact code will go a long way to narrowing down the issue, and the cost to repair. Until then, it's, as you said, "several different guesses on the cause and solution for this and the costs range from OK to a new C-8."

Here's a list of transmission-related codes, and you can see there's quite a range of possible issues.
