2026 - on Locking fuel cap, let's find a solution.
Rather than just vent our frustrations here, how about we do something?
I looked online, GM does produce locking gas caps for similar capless tanks.
So... 1. Why don't we ask GM if any of those will fit? 2. If not, ask them to make one. After all, the C8 will be around for a couple more years, so there will be a market. 3. Does anyone know if a non GM unit will work? An internet search brings up a couple of low profile units that look promising from MotoRad and Stant.
I don't want to buy one and then it won't fit.
If nothing else, how about anyone with a late '26 C8 or "27 on order, contact or call the Corvette concierge. Corvetteconcierge@chevrolet.com and ask the question.
OP, your post makes no sense whatsoever - what is the perceived problem?
It does if you have read the other thread on this forum.
Even if you haven't, the title clearly states "2026 -on", so someone reading it should figure that there has been a change somewhere.
Find one on Amazon. With their return policy, if it doesn't fit send it back for a full refund. Both Stant and MotoRad locking caps are available on Amazon.
The gas cap already locks when the car is locked. It has a lock already.
What exactly is the problem?
@Exia it does not anymore. In early versions of the 2026 manual it describes in detail all about the locking fuel door. But version B , now on the Chevy website has deleted all references to locking fuel door from the manual. And 2026 models are being delivered without it.
This along with eliminating Android Auto has just about helped me to rule out moving to a newer than early 2026 Corvette.
They did not eliminate CarPlay and Android Auto features. They are stil in the 2026 version B manual. They may have on other GM cars, not this one, not yet.
Thank you. I thought I read that on the late 26s that they went to a 'pay to play' system.
Not that I know of. In 2024 they did replace the built in GM nav system, which obtained map data from the on board SD card, with a Google Maps nav app hosted in the infotainment system that obtains its map data via the "internet" and it requires an OnStar subscription with a data plan to provide the map data (or a workaround). So that is pay to play for the nav app hosted in the infotainment system. But the CarPlay and Android Auto features were still supported. I have read that the when using CarPlay or Android Auto in 2024 and later models, the screen size has shrunk a little because of additional, annoying icons added to the perimeter of the screen.
GM and other car makers are increasingly going to pay to play. GM, "In the past nine months, GM's software generated $2 billion, and customers have already signed up for about $5 billion in future subscriptions."
Subscriptions have the highest return there is for the car manufacturers.
On-Star- "The company said it now has 11 million subscribers for its OnStar safety system, up 34% from a year earlier." "According to data released in General Motors’ latest Q4 earnings report, deferred revenue from OnStar services (including Super Cruise) reached $5.4 billionby the end of last year."

Well thats bizzare. A lot of GM cars are capless and lockable. Do other GM cars no longer have it as well after 2026?
