Default A question about power seats.

Are all of the power seat transmissions the same for all C4s? I’d like to have a spare for my 91 and not sure if they’re all the same.

In most cases the gears will give out first which are sort of easy to replace

Yes for interchangeability within all years, both sides. (I don't know about the connector differences. Viking Trad3r has experience with a bunch of L98 years, I don't, so there probably are.)

No for internal parts (gears on their shafts) if you have to refurbish one. Richard Finley (c4seattracks on youtube) has details, and provides repair parts and service.

I'm trying to recall, thinking the seat tranny changed at some point, due to different shaft size.

Plug change from brown with round pins to black with rectangular pins during 1987 model year run.

I put a post describing my repair/refurbishment of one seat track in my 1992 in the "What did you do to your C4 today?" thread. Late last year, it could be found using my user name.

Not all are the same same. There's an early version and later version. The difference is small gears vs large.

Yes the gears are different in some years, but the entire track assembly is interchangeable for any year C4, any seat, passenger or driver side of the car.

The gear thing is only an issue if you have to work on the gears or transmissions.
