With these insane gas prices, has that curtailed using your C8? While not as insane as California, here in S. Florida it just cost me over $70 to fill up my C8. Granted we didn't buy these car for the MPG, but at some point it is going make me think twice about taking my C8 out other than for some pleasure driving. While I use to semi-daily my C8, lately my 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid has been seeing much more driving with over 40mpg around town and on regular gas. This past weekend one of the car groups I am in had a Saturday night cruise and the turnout was much less than usual.
At least my Honda is almost the same color as my C8, so that makes me not miss my C8 as much!
No. I've always bought gas cheaper with points from one of the two stores we shop at and also by getting gift cards through our credit card cash back program.
For me, yes, sort of.
I am sort of semi-retired, my part time gig is delivering RV trailers to the dealerships, and my truck is a diesel, and diesel prices are even higher, crazier, than gas.
So, since this chaos with Iran has been going on and fuel prices have gone through the roof, I have been living in super saver mode, not buying anything I don't have to, and that includes gas for the Corvette.
It has been in the garage more than out, haven't put gas in it for about 4 weeks, and it still has half a tank.
Yep drive my DD E-Ray less! I can afford the $5+/gallon BUT my wife has a 2025 BMW X5 Hybrid. Gets ~50+ miles per electric/charge. So that 15 mile trip to the grocery store or ~50 mile round trip to town I "feel" better paying what is about the equivalent of $1/gallon nighttime electric power rate! We have be on Time of Use power rate since we moved to SC in 1985. Wife attended a Woman's Club meeting where Duke Power Rep convinced her it was smart to go on Time of Use rates. They used to supply a monthly bill showing what the cost would have been under normal rates and with Time of Use rate. We saved over the years ~$500/year. Now we can save even more charging the car in their extra savings rate at night. Only using my 220 volt welder receptacle in the garage so 16 amps x 220 volts charges in ~5 hours from almost depleted. IF we needed to charge quicker could install an electric stove 35 amp power line and cut the time more than half. That rate is 20% of the average power rate around here. We do pay more for the peak 15 minutes in a month, a lot more BUT that is why they (and most power companies) do for businesses as avoids them building power plants for the max peak needed. Only two of use so we set dishwashing and clothes washing/drying with a timer. Off Peak power is at night, weekends and holidays. Requires a special Smart power meter from the Power Company.
BTW, unlike an EV would NEVER charge away from home. For the few long trips we make we just use gas!
If we get to $10/gal yes, but not today. Plus my daily driver is an EV I bought in October so I am gonna pat myself on the back for that choice. Cost to charge at home from 50-100% is –$5.
I'm driving out West for a month this summer, probably going to cost me an extra $2000 in fuel.
Driving to Utah and Arizona on the annual road trip West. Increased gas price will cost probably $150-$200 over prior year. What’s that, a great meal at the Big Texan? Not going to keep me from enjoying that steak.
My daily driver is a Cadillac Lyriq EV. I took my C8 out for a 4 hour cruise last weekend and didn't think twice about the cost of the premium gas I put in it.
While high, gas prices are actually below the peak hit on June 14, 2022 of $5.02/gallon national average. Adjusted for inflation, that's about $5.53 today.
