Have 2023 Stingray, 46,000 miles. Extended warranty.
Problem. Car starts and dies. Acts like lack of fuel. Have replaced fuel module, twice, by warranty.
Still starts and dies.
Warranty people says they need a record showing fuel pressure is below 20 psi when having problems. May happen twice today or not happen for 30 days of daily use.
Thinking.
Would it work to buy something like a Autel Elite 2 Pro scanner and leave it plugged in all the time. When car acts up use scanner ASAP after poor start to get fuel pressure reading for warranty company ? $3,400 to replace fuel pump.
Are there any codes thrown? If the fuel pressure was low enough to cause the engine to die you'd think it would set a DTC. I could see bad gas possibly causing the engine to die without throwing a code.
Oh, yes, it throws a code. Does no good. There are 6 or 7 things it could possible be by the code it gives. They have tried all th cheap and easy things. But the warrenty company does not want to spend the money. They make it next to impossible to give them the info. It would require me to leave the car with the dealership so a tech could drive with a plug in scanner on it until it throws a code. They say then there would be a record of fuel pressure. The car may go a month with out it acting up. Last dealer I left it with had an accident with it while testing it. Oh, they fixed it. I just had to drive 500 miles bring it to them and back again for repairs. Love those dealers.

Is the warranty company the Chevrolet Protection Plan or a different company? If it is the Chevrolet Protection Plan it shouldn't be your problem as long as the dealer is following the troubleshooting tree for the DTCs in the service manual. If it is an aftermarket warranty company that you purchased at a dealership I would hope the dealership would be the intermediary since they sold you the warranty.
What are the DTCs? Admittedly I'm too lazy to follow the troubleshooting tree in the service manual but someone else may have some insight.
But I can understand your desire to not have the dealer to drive your car until an intermittent problem occurs. To address your question I don't know which aftermarket scanner would provide the information you are looking for. Perhaps a Bluetooth OBD connector that works with an app-based system.
I would question if the dealership is following the DTC troubleshooting tree in the service manual. If they are there there should be a step in the tree to to drive with the scanner attached until the car throws a code and records the fuel pressure. I'd also asked if they've contacted Techline for assistance. If they aren't following the tree or haven't contacted Techline I'd find another dealer.
If it is a GM extended warranty why would you need to prove to them what is wrong? Should you just be able to give them the car and they need to figure it out? Regardless of the cost?
