After recently recording the 5-digit key codes (little metal tags w/ #s stamped) for our other 2 cars as well as the 4-alphadigit key codes for my '71 C3, I realized I don't have a similar 'key code' for our 2010 C6. (I'm not the original owner)
I didn't see any mention of a key code in the owner's manual - though it helpfully stated: "Be sure you have a spare transmitter and/or key". Nor did I find it mentioned in a quick search here... But I may very well have missed it.
Question: Did (2010) C6s get delivered to new owners with a key code of some sort? Something to facilitate a replacement key and/or fob from say a dealer in an emergency?
Thx
(PS I probably need to figure a hidden key / fob arrangement, heck I even have a spare hatch key cut and ready to go - different topic).
My bought-new 2007 did not come with one. Maybe becasue the key is only for the rear hatch cylinder. Dealers and some locksmiths can look up code with VIN and proof of ownership.
As far as hidden key setup, I have the ability to walk up totally nekkid and drive in every car and motorcycle I own. Hide hatch key outside, Hide 2nd fob with battery removed inside.
