I reaching out to the forum to see anyone has replaced their windshield on a C8. Did you use a regular glass replacement company or did you have to take to the dealership? Thank you guys.
Being as my insurance pays for it, they dictate who to use. I requested OEM glass and they covered it. Most dealers don't even do glass, they typically call in glass installers and mark up the service....
Replaced the windshield on a 2023 Coupe 2 years ago through a local (Charleston, SC) glass repair shop (Clearview Autoglass). The windshield had gouges in it (no crack) from a large rock from a truck on a freeway. I had to pay $275 out of pocket for the OEM windshield since insurance wouldn't cover the delta from the non-OEM windshield.
I originally booked with Safelite. They would not come to my home and of course had to order the windshield. I waited several weeks for the glass to come in and while waiting didnt like the idea of dropping car off so I called the dealership. They gave me name of glass company they use and I switched to them. They ordered the glass and came to my house and fixed the glass. OEM glass.
I used an aftermarket on my C7 and I regretted it a little. The HUD was dimmer by enough to notice but no so much as to make it worthless. It saved me some money at the time but I wouldn't do it again. I'd go OEM unless someone could confirm it didn't negatively impact the HUD.
Safelite.....3 windshields in 20 years at home.....orginal .....no problems......Insurance required 3 estimates ....got them over the internet....easy peasy
