I made a diagram for the belt and pulley configuration for a 427 with AC and Power Steering. This was made for a 69, but I think all years of 427's are basiclly the same.
In the past when I have tried to replace all of the belts, they always try to sell me the longer belt for the water pump to crankshaft pulley. It is much easier to install, but it
is too long and the tensioner does not make contact with the belt.
The problem is if its not shown on the computer in the parts store, the KIDS dont know what to do. Get a couple if belts shorter to find the right one and save the number. Maybe look for someone older that knows parts
when I bought my 69 many years ago the smog pump was already history. Who cared about a smog pump. I moved to a couple of different states and had no problem until I moved to California. At some point they passed a law that said that if a car came with smog equipment it had to be in place. The first emissions test they could not find parts, so I got a waver. The next emission test I asked for another waver, and they said parts had been found and I had to install them. The pump fit and worked, but it said "metric" on the back. Years later and another couple of states later, I decided that if I was going to have the Smog junk on I wanted to put the correct pieces on. Contacted Bill Hodel in Ohio and bought the correct parts and installed them. I will never go for NCRS Top-Flight, but feel better when I am at a car show and the engine compartment looks correct for an L68.
