Default 2000 man at shop, codes P0200, P0300... MAF? Thoughts if you feel like it.

Dead battery, extended bad weather. Stupid stupid stupid, I have a tender, kept thinking weather would clear. Usually drive all year.

Wouldn't take trickle. Poss surge on new tender/repair trickle. Then same, showed full, but dead.

AAA jumped, showed battery still good. Drove 45min.

Rough idle, no power 3rdish, 4th and 5th... No bucking or surging, slight feel of potential stall, but doesn't.

Soft tapping sound not quite sewing machine, I don't think it sped up with RPMS

Next day starts right up
Ran codes while driving.
P0300, P0200
reset about 3xs and same returned,
no others.

At the shop, new owner, sounds like he has plenty of experience.

- Got the call, he has a new code something 14 one four
(didn't have a pen)

- His first plan of action is replace MAF sensor.

Reading/research mostly

Wires/wire harness, plug wires,
Coils, poss vacuum leak... I think MAF was "possible" after I included in the searching.

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c5-tech/1695325-misfire-and-trouble-codes-help.html

All those sound legit, in attached garage, hood up, has been critter activity. No visible nests.

So she went to sleep perfect in Jan and woke up with a bad MAF sensor?

Okay to let him proceed?

71k miles, good time to do plugs and wires anyway?

I don't push the car ridiculous. Just a little fun now and then.

Well 99.999% of shops have no diagnostic experience so they will just replace a part based on a trouble code...you have a misfire due to an bad injector control circuit (P0200)...it is a "circuit" code so possibly an injector wiring issue...can't help you with a "14" code...find a diagnostic shop in your area...your new shop owner has plenty of "experience" just not the right kind...you can see his first "plan of action" is to just replace your MAF sensor.

Run, don’t walk away from that shop. . A P0200 is telling you you have a problem with the electrical circuit that fires the injectors. IIRC, the injectors are controlled by the pcm by switching the duration of the ground, and the injectors are fed a constant 12V. There should be 2 fuses in the engine bay fuse block for the injectors.

mice really love the insulation on the wires that feed the injectors and the coil packs. It is a fuel and heat resistant insulation, but not resistant to mice. Not unusual to pull the plastic covers and find a nest.

C5’s have a wire chafing problem on the left bank injection wires, kinda common and will put a C5 in limp mode in a blink.

With injector troubles a good mechanic would look at fuel trims and see if either bank has funky fuel trims. That way, you can quickly tell if one side of the engine is not right and concentrate on the wiring to the injectors on that bank. The left side of the engine is bank1,the right side bank 2.

Default Update - appointment for July

Funny
Expert advised go ahead with MAF sensor, Make sure to use OEM. So sweet and helpful.
(They are scheduling way out)

Current shop was, "yep, gotchu"

- My car has aftermarket intake, didn't fit!
🤣🤣🤣

Washing his hands of me and my car, lol.

Scheduled for July 😢

I deserve it,
Just seems pretty straightforward, only a few things it could really be.

* Also advised to fill with 94 and let it run a little. Stale gas and it is low.

Not holding hope on that though.

I'll let y'all know what the final results are.

XOXO
