Default Some or All?

Good morning all,

Another new guy question. As I get closer to making the final decision on my 2027 order/options, may I ask this.

Do any or all Chevy dealers have the ability to order a Z06? Or are they like Porsche, where only certain dealers can order or have allocations.

I ask because I contacted the dealer that sold me my last GM product, and they had sort of a strange response. They said, they have never received a Z06, but were positive that they could order one.

Not to be negative, but that sounds like a salesman version of no.

It’s an allocation based system.

Any dealer can put in the order, it just won’t go anywhere until they get an allocation and GM picks up the order. That could take many months for a dealer that has never gotten a Z06 allocation.

Better to not waste time with a dealer who doesn’t get Z06 allocations.

Okay, good to know. So with that in mind, its seems best to call around and see who has allocations.

There wouldn't happen to be an online list? i assume no.

Thanks

The allocations aren’t really public. Some dealers will share theirs, some won’t, and others will lie and tell you whatever you want to hear… “oh yeah we totally get allocations all the time” then your order sits for a year with no allocation.

Shameless self promotion here: I built the website C8tracker.com. It keeps track of all C8’s that get built and maps them to the dealer who ordered them. While it’s not exactly current allocation data, it can tell you what dealers have gotten these cars so those are the dealers who have gotten allocations in the past. It’s a pretty good starting point when researching local dealers.

oh wow, seems like MacMulkin Chevrolet are the big dogs!

I also see a few dealers in my area have received 1 - 5 vehicles.

What is the smart play...get on the big dog list and wait or take a shot will the much smaller dealers close to home?

I would think whomever takes your deposit would have an allocation for you.

I can only speak from my experience....go big dog....go MacMulkin. They wont lie to you, they wont give you the run around, they wont add a bunch of over priced "dealer enhancements". They give you honest and informed information. They dont guess, they know; and if they dont know, they arent afraid to tell you they dont know. They sell so many Vettes they dont have to play games to garner your's or anyone's business. They just sell you the car you want with no bull crap and no anxiety. The only downside (and I don't consider it a negative, it is just part of buying a car from a non-local dealer), is either getting the car transported to you, or opting for museum pickup, or flying to MacMulkin and picking it up from them in person.
