Well after 5 years/50K miles of ownership it happened. Going in my left lane, someone is their 80s decides to change 4 lanes and hit me. No injuries, just bummed. Could've been worse.
So now the question:
1) repairable? (before I report to my insurance), note the two cracks into the body (small)
2) Also should I take this to Chevy or any shop that Geico recommends will do?
Repairable. Personally, I'd prefer using a good Chevy body shop that probably has far more experience working on Corvettes. Check with your local Corvette Clubs and ask around in the appropriate Regional Section here.
Take it to the best shop that deals with Corvette body repairs. It doesn't look like any panels have to be replaced but just make sure they don't try to use any aftermarket or LKQ body panels. Used panels from another Vette would be ok but only if needed. The aero skirt might need to be replaced but that's not a big deal.
All repairable but like anything else, the finished paint work is key.
Repairable? Absolutely. Worst case would be a replacement door, rocker skirt, and repairing the rocker itself. Wrapped up with blending the paint between the door, fender and quarter.
Now getting the insurance company to repair it rather than total it? That's another story.
Seems like since 2020, insurance companies essentially total everything regardless of actual repair costs. I just went thru this with a truck of mine. Lady pulled out of a side street onto a state route without looking. Pushed the axle back on the truck and spun it 180°. Instant total by insurance, but I just repaired it for $1400
It is repairable but GM will only sell certain replacement parts to GM certified repair facilities. The rocker panel may be one of them since it requires a specialized process to replace. I'd let your insurance company work with it to make sure they take responsibility.
