2024 C8 Stingray - 22,000 miles - it was time for DCT external filter change - Tech called me to inform - there is an oil leak - either from the oil pan or rear main seal. Rear cradle has to be removed to remove the oil pan!! Anyone have similar issue? Any lessons learned? Very frustrating to have a leak!
None of my newer cars leak anything. All my collectibles leak something and ifs it minor I live with it. It's hard to tell but your leak doesn't look minor. A problem with belly pans is that it's tougher to gauge the severity of the leak. Once the belly pan is reinstalled how will you determine if the leak is fixed other monitoring the oil level which would be affected only by a severe leak.
I HATE it when anyone touches any of my cars but in your case Id proceed with the repair.

Yes - it will be a warranty repair - should be going to the dealer this week - once repaired - I plan on having the dealer remove the belly pan at lease two times, before the next DCT filter change - I want them to inspect for leaks - and I want to see.
My 2021 with 40,000 miles just developed a similar leak. This is what it looked like before I cleaned it. After I cleaned it, I ran it for a few minutes and this developed. I let it sit for 24hrs and this is what it looked like.
Following. Is there a TSB or anything associated with this? My 2026 is currently having the cradle dropped at less than 200 miles for an oil system issue as well.
there's a TSB for the rear main seal (insufficient torque when it was built). If you do have the dealer fix it, make sure they have all of the parts in stock before you give them the car, there are a ton of single use parts that they remove and all of them need to be in stock for them to complete the repair.
Had the exact same issue. Just got my car back today. I had a thread when it first happened. The dealership had my car for a month but just started working on it last Wednesday. Took it on on April 30th, 2023 with 7800 miles to have the tires rotated and DCT filter changed. Called me two days later and said they found an oil leak. Said they found a hairline crack in the oil tank. Under warranty and this is what they replaced...... 4 bolts, 4 seals, tank, lube, ow40 supe 8.800 N and Filter 1.836 with an :also 19533697 (whatever that is). Now I have to see if I can win the battle of them charging me $1100 for the DCT filter change that was supposed to be complimentary on the first one. On the internet, I read that you can be up to 8000 miles for it to be covered. GM person on chat said GM does not support internet commenting and that the car had to be done at or slightly before the 7500 mile work. So I had to pay for it.
Car dropped off 05/19/26
Picked up 06/03/26
from paper work I saw... if not under warranty... ~ $2,100.00
Replaced oil pan gasket, bolt, two seals, clip, oil and oil filter.
Notes from the tech... oil pan leaking from the rear where the oil pan and rear main seal cover meets. removed rear subframe cradle and removed oil pan. inspected oil pan for damage, no cracks or scoring or scratches found on oil pan. Cleaned off engine oil pan and engine block, replaced all rubber seals on oil pan and resealed oil pan with GMS. Reinstalled rear subframe cradle. test drove and doubled checked oil pan to verify repairs. performed alignment.
I plan on brining it back in a few months, drop the belly pan... inspect for leaks.
time to start shopping extended GM warranty!
