Default 1956 Corvette exhaust install

Very happy to be here among Corvette enthusiasts and people who are a lot smarter than me. I purchased my ‘56 in July of 2022. It had undergone a total restoration including a new Corvette Central body that did not include the body cutouts for the pipes to enter the tunnels through the walls of the trunk wells. The bumpers, bezels and tailpipes are already on the car. Just no tunnel cutouts. I have the fiberglass tunnels.

I have diagrams from the assembly manual and a few other sources but nothing to address my issue. No 56-58s near me to lay eyes on, so pics (or anything else) would help. Thank you and glad to be here. Casey

That would be great. I think have all of the parts. The car already had the bezels and exit pipes installed. I have the two piece fiberglass tunnels and the Corvette Central off-road exhaust and all of the hangers but have no idea of exactly where to cut the holes in the body. Do you know? Thanks

OK, I won't bother posting pictures of all the parts, just the installed tunnel and exit hole.

Default Pics of My Disassembled 1956 Exhaust Exit

Here are some pictures. Let me know if this helps.
There is a lot of bonding material around the tunnel on the inside. I don't know if that is factory, or a later repair. I can also try to get some more measurements if you want. Let me know what you are looking for.

Those two pics of the tunnels are exactly what I’m looking for. Thank you so much. Would you be able to send pics of the underside where the pipe actually enters the tunnel? That is what I need to determine where and what size to cut the holes. For some reason these Corvette Central bodies did not have the holes precut. The bumper holes were, though. Go figure. Thanks again!

The exhaust pipes and the bumpers all line up on the horizontal plane. Can you laser a line across the rear, using the precut bumper holes as the base line, to determine the horizontal center line location of the exhaust pipe hole? Consult your drawings for the east/west location.

Yes, I could do that. But I’d much rather see a picture from underneath on an actual car with the exhaust installed. Is that your ‘57 Fuelie? Nice! And thank you, sir.

There are RH LH big oval holes in the trunk floor on the side where the tubes bond to
Then are bonded to the quarter / rear body

1956 C1. Ran 174 MPH at Bonneville, driven by Bruce Geisler in the early 60's. Thanks

Here are some pictures of the inside hole with the pipe in the approximate position. It was difficult to see up in there so I didn't get any with a ruler for reference.

You are most welcome, and glad you joined the community here.

The photos are of my 1956 donor car. It had been hit in the rear, but I don't think the drivers side I photographed was affected. The bonding paste for the tunnel is a mess. but that may be factory.

Perhaps one the members with deep C1 experience can comment on the factory as-built appearance of the exhaust tunnel bonding. Since your body is a Corvette Central Concept 57, you may not be concerned about true originality. If so, finish it up to look nice!
