Default Fuel pump Torque Specs?

Hello. My question is about the torque specs. on the two 1/4" bolts that help to hold on the fuel pump plate on a s.b.69. The AIM says 32 to 40 lbs. I got thinking about it , seems high for a 1/4" bolt and wondered if there had been a revision to that number. Should I try/ risk that or just tighten it and simple check a few times for leaks. Thanks in advance for advice.

Thanks for the replies. The chart from 69L88 would be about what I would think, that's why I was confused.
The AIM I have is for 69 and on page J207 it list the "srew Asm #11" at 32 -40 LBS.FT not inches. Perhaps by 72 as in Sunflower 1972 screen shot they caught the mistake. If Sunflower 1972 notices this reply couldyou tellme what is the spec they have listed for thos bolts. I can't make it out in the shot you posted . Thanks and take care.

If you are on a phone or a computer click on the image. It says 32 to 40 INCH pounds not FOOT lbs.

Item #2. As MelWff and myself have stated, INCH pounds.

Although I can tell for you certain after spend 45 years in a GM Dealer Service Department, no line mechanic ever used a torque wrench on those or the fuel pump mounting bolts.

Thanks again for the replies. Obviously my 69 AIM is wrong but now I wonder wen they caught the error and what the AIMs for 70 and 71 say. I think I may have to much spare time.

I think you have to relook at your aim, it will say pounds but if you look closer it says INCH pounds

So the old joke in regards to bolt torque.
Tighten the bolt until it strips and then another half turn! LOL.
