Many of us have used that phrase, but it probably means something different to each owner. Are we talking hard acceleration and on-ramps, back-road carving, occasional triple-digit blasts, track days, or just putting it in Sport mode and enjoying the exhaust? I totaled my first Corvette doing some spirited driving (at 110 mph). That was years ago and I still am very subdued.
I'm a wimp. I'm always worried something's going to jump out in the road or I'm going to come up on something too fast on the highway.
Lol. Same here. One night I was in a C4, and I was driving past a farm near my house. I noticed something beside the driver’s door. Then there was a bump on the door. It was a deer running beside me. I floored it and left him far behind.
Rapid acceleration up to the speed limit is all I occasionally do. Too many distracted drivers, over population, and age prevent me from doing more. Last thing I want to do is hurt or unalive someone from doing something stupid.
I have driven on the track at the Corvette Museum a few times. That is quite spirited. I also enjoy the occasional WOT on an expressway merging ramp. There are a few back roads around here that I have been known to take the turns at a little more that the posted speed limit. However, I usually am satisfied to keep it at the speed limit on my trips.

Fast acceleration on the on-ramp, a brisk blast on some twisty roads and the occasional quick burst from a stop. Seldom get past 90-100 - don’t need a ticket for going too fast.
Quickly getting up to freeway speeds from onramps with some wheelspin in 1st gear then to 80mph in 2nd in my M7 provides exhilaration on every drive!
Have exceeded 140mph on the track and Ron Fellows but never exceeded 100 on regular highways — onramps and first gear wheelspins from stops give me all the thrills I like without ticket or accident worries.
I'd say 110mph is way more than spirited . For me spirited is accelerating of course in a Corvette, but also cornering on cloverleafs and windy roads. But at speeds significantly less than my car can handle. I used to do track days when I had a 944 turbo in the 90's and 2000's. After doing 140 on the straight and 130 and 115 in a couple of the high speed corners zipping around on the street at 100 is boring and so I don't do it. I still autocross 1-3 times a year and that is spirited even though speeds are generally below 70. A cloverleaf with the yellow caution 35mph at 50-60 is fun. One time a co worker was following me into a cloverleaf and he later asked about me accelerating into the clover. Told him no, I just didn't slow down much for the turn!!!!

On/off ramp hero. Autocross (until we got shut down this year). Texas Mile. Looking to try the Big Bend Open Road Race, hopefully next year. Not many fun roads around here. Most of the curves are chewed up and covered in gravel.
