I was getting ready to dye some OEM door panels and on closer examination I noticed that they have been dyed once already. The panels are in nice shape, they're just aqua blue instead of the green that I need.
Does anybody have experience with overlaying dye with another color of dye? I'm curious about adhesion or different steps to take to prep them compared to some "virgin" door panels.
Or better yet, anybody have some nice 67 roadster door panels in green that they don't need? ;-)
It should cover OK with a couple of coats. Adhesion promoter (like Bullseye) is primarily for painting over bare vinyl or plastic I believe but I think I woul use it between the old surface and new paint. If you are worried about wear you can apply a coat of SEM satin or semi-gloss clear over the color to help protect it from abrasion.
