Default Rebuild title value.

I have a chance to buy a 07 47000 miles. I have checked it out and had on lift. Look as if all repairs are good. Heads are stock and asking 35000.00. I want to offer 22000.00 and am not willing to go higher. Is this a far offer?

Make sure your insurance company will insure it, some won't.

You can offer it, but I know if I was asking 35k and someone offered 22k, that be the end of negotiations.

35k for a rebuilt titled Z06 isn’t realistic. That said I’d be shocked if they went for 22k.

This is a fair offer. What we are talking about is the simple dynamics of negotiation and the assumption of risk. The bidder is assuming all of the risk for the damage repair that has not been thus far determined. It is up to the insurance company to determine whether $22k will meet their criteria for moving that risk from their responsibility to the bidder. Without photos and a detailed estimate for the repair, none of us can answer the question.

As a warning, I will disclose that I owned a lightly modified 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo that was damaged on track. The insurance company totaled the car and I bought it back from them, as their evaluation did not include the value of the modifications. After making a deal with an independent body and paint repair shop, I drove the car to their shop, where it remained for 5 months. After that time, I was informed that I could take the car as-is, paying almost $9000 (1993 dollars). At this point, I was seriously doubting that I would ever see the car again, so I agreed. The condition of the car was mostly OK, so I took it to another shop to straighten out the fitment issues. I only provide this history to warn others of the risks involved in buying damaged or potentially damaged Porsches.

It’s not clear that it is an insurance buyback. If it’s a private seller the gap between the ask and the offer is probably a bit too large IMHO

Rebuilt could mean a lot of things. Crash, theft/vandalism, flood, etc. Id get clarification what the issue was prior to purchase. IMO 35k is not a reasonable number for a rebuilt, regardless of what it was.

If you’ve checked the car out, either yourself or by a pro, and it looks good, don’t insult the seller with a severe lowball offer. Title branded cars are nothing to be afraid of. Just do your homework and offer something closer to what he’s asking.
Two years ago I bought a low mileage all stock ’08 Z that had a branded title, but was otherwise literally perfect. I checked out the reason for branding, and it didn’t even move the needle of concern for me. Everything works, car drives like a beast. I paid $38.5k. I used the money I saved over any other car to have the heads done as preventative maintenance. 5k miles later I’m still smiling.

Exactly why does the car have a rebuilt title?

Unless you're on a budget of $22K or super handy when it comes to wrenching, I would just look for another car.

It may be ridiculous but I wouldn’t even waste your time if he’s asking that much he’s likely delusional or has sentimental attachment to it. I feel 22 is a little aggressive but I think high 20s is fair. But if he’s asking 35 he’s going to drop the price a few times before taking an offer for half.

I ran into this with a C5 a while ago. The car was a 2002 with like 18k miles but the guy literally let it rust away and said he changed the oil every 5 years. Tires were original and rims had surface rush and he was asking the top end of the value as if the car was prestine and wouldn’t budge at all.

After inspection I struck a deal. Runs fine. All good now.
