Hey guys, I stripped a 1985 Corvette of parts (a fellow member here let me pull parts from it), and I took the DELCO BOSE speakers from the rear compartment. I also took the grills from the doors, but apparently didn't bother to take anything else.
Question, is the DELCO BOSE that great, or is it not worth the hassle? I plan to replace everything. I have a DELCO BOSE radio, which I will probably use because of the lower hertz, but I'll probably end up buying a small amplifier to get better sound.
I guess what I'm asking is... is it THAT much better to have the original DELCO BOSE hardware (and speaker sizes), or am I OK with going with some aftermarket nice 6x9s and an aftermarket amp (keeping everything looking stock)?
I'm cleaning up my garage, and want to know if I should throw this stuff out or keep it. Thank you!
(I have an 84 that currently does not have DELCO BOSE. It has some weird Cadillac radio with a built in CB radio.
41 years old..unless you are specifically staying stock
thanks! I would still plan to replace the Bose speakers with equivalents… just wondering if the stock amps, etc., are worthwhile keeping? Car will mostly not be original, and not a desirable model anyway…
Most all of the sound system in my 88 was gone when I got it. So, found a place to drop in an amp that will out power those Bose amps... I then used the Bose low-level wiring to deliver the sound directly to new JBL speakers. I vote to jettison the ~40 year old Bose.
