Hello everyone
I finally got m y 89 6 spd running. But I cannot drive it. I have TunerPro on my computer. It is saying I have an EST error. Chat GTP is telling me to check the EST wire resistance. I do not know how. I have a multi meter. Which side of the plug do I test. Do I put the red lead into the male side of the EST or the female side. Someone on FB suggested the ECM fuse. Is he tallking about the 10 amp ecm eng fuse in the fuse block? If any of you have any suggestions please help. The car timing is 6 degrees, TPS 0.55, idle is 700, vacuum is 18 inches, all wires are sending spark. thank you
Code 42 will be set when the "set timing connector" is unplugged to set the timing. The wire is tan/black, the connector is a one-cavity connector in the vicinity of the wiper motor.
There are other possibilities for Code 42, but the timing connector being intermittent, or the timing was set within the last 50 ignition cycles are the most likely.
SOP for any code is to clear it and see if it comes back.
If you determine your ESC module is bad let me know, you can have mine, I no longer need it since going with the FiTech system. I replaced my original one with a known working used one but it ended up not being the issue I had.
