NO.
All the guts of the thin P, thick P and Canadian P are 100% interchangeable.
Corvettes ONLY got the thin P from the Detroit Gear and Axle plant.
Passenger cars got thick or thin P rears from either the Detroit or the Buffalo plant.
A thick P from the Buffalo plant WAS NOT installed in a corvette.
Canadian posi case
Detroit thin P
Buffalo thick

Some Canadian Pontiacs, and other cars, had Chevy drive lines, and there were Canadian plants that made the same parts as used on Chevys. Engines is a good example.

@DZAUTO Thanks, as always! I have never asked about my posi but thought it was the original unit from what I had read.
This is in my '60 (I will get a better photo next time it is on a lift):

To avoid tariffs (really - even then) Canadian built Pontiacs were Chevrolets with Pontiac outer panels. Frame, engine, transmission and rear, all Chevy. You can see a Canuck Poncho coming with its wheels sucked in unlike the Wide Track genuine Ponchos we enjoyed below. Plymouth & Dodge avoided tariffs by using one interior for both ... my 61 Canadian Plymouth wears a Dodge interior.

The casting date C 7 0 indicates Mar 7 1960 from the Detroit plant.
The 60-64 posi units are an upgrade over the 57-59 units.

Yep, lines up with my June build date. I can't read the stamped codes for the original ratio, but it has 3.70 now.
