Default Manual transmission vent tube?

Hey all.

So I originally budgeted 3-4 weeks for my clutch change on my '01. Thanks to a failed discontinued torque tube part, that project has spiraled into a multi month nightmare project.

Fortunately, I was able to locate a replacement for the failed torque tube part and am in the process of reinstalling the rear cradle. I have pretty much everything accounted for, except there is a tube that goes on the top of the transmission. Problem is, it's been so long I no longer remember where that tube goes, and I don't see anything that looks like a hose barb for the tube to fit on. I've looked online for a picture or diagram that shows where that little tube might fit but no luck.

I think it's just a vent tube but I'm not sure. It looks a lot like 3/8" fuel line and I know it goes somewhere on the top of the transmission. The other end goes forward and up like around the fuel tanks.

Anybody help me out here? Appreciate it.

Ya, I see that and I know nothing attaches to it.

Maybe I am mistaken. Maybe the tube goes to the differential? I know it's directly on top and, at least when I removed it, I accessed it from the DS. That's not to say the attachment is on the DS, that just happened to be the side of the car when I had access to it.

Like I said in the OP, it's a rubber tube like 3/8" fuel line that attaches to the trans/diff and then disappears somewhere up around the fuel tanks.

Well that's weird. I appreciate the help, guys. I wonder what this hose goes to? Maybe it was supposed to go to something else, got disconnected somehow and just landed on top of the trans/diff.

So here's the hose I'm talking about. Looking up with the transaxle in place.

The end that I think attaches to the trans/diff is in the foreground but I've outlined the rest of it with a red line. It seems to go up inside the tub where the red arrow is. I don't remember having to loosen that hose clamp but it's been a few months so my memory may be a bit fuzzy there. If I put the hose on top of the differential, the hose memory puts it just off center on the DS and there is a round plug-like thing but there doesn't seem to be a hose fitting. So now I'm wondering what the hell this hose is supposed to go to in the first place? Maybe it wasn't where it was supposed to be when I started?
Anybody have any ideas?
