Default 72 Booster Questions - Replace pedal box or not?

Hi,

I've had this car since 1981. It was a SB, base with only PS. (A KC-135 pilot bought it with his Air Force Academy "magic money" at graduation. I bought it from him.) In the early 80's I bought and added pretty much every option. A/C, TT column, PW, deluxe interior and power brakes. I 'retired' it as a daily driver in 1985 when I started grad school but kept it in inside storage. Started a rebuild in 2007 for my son, but he quickly grew too tall for the car. (He's 6'-6" now.) Decided a few months ago that it was time to either rebuild or sell it so someone else could enjoy it.

It's a very solid car, low miles, almost no rust, matching numbers, and I've done a lot to it. All wiring harnesses, switches, motors, relays, etc. have been replaced. Original intake a rocker covers, rebuilt, correct carb, new rear suspension, trailing arms, SS calipers and lines, gas tank, blah, blah.

I'm in the brakes now and revisiting the booster. I have a booster/MC setup on the car that I (probably bought) in 2007. Uses metric nuts so I'm guessing it's a Chinese knockoff, and a MC with ports out both sides...inside ports blocked off. I pulled it and it has a fixed length actuator pin, and goes into the 'provided' MC, that doesn't have a deep hole for the 'correct' booster pin, like the new MC I bought has. My best guess is that the booster/MC combo was a kit that worked together. Can't remember if I actually ever used it after install. (I'm old.) The calipers and lines are from CSSB (tags on the lines) so I likely bought the booster/MC kit from them, too.

I can share that the booster/MC that I put on it in the 80's worked fine for years. (At least I thought so.) I don't remember changing out the pedal box (SB, manual) at the time, and have a vague memory of re-using the manual brake pedal, just swapping holes. I do remember having to 'find' the mounting holes for the booster and cutting out the firewall back then.

My question (finally...) What is the definitive opinion on changing pedal boxes for PB conversion? I see online articles and current conversion kits that do not change the pedal box, just move the holes, but see the opposite as well. Zip offers a kit, claiming it uses correct parts, without a pedal box, here: https://www.zip-corvette.com/71-73-p...rsion-kit.html

And references an article, here: https://www.corvettemagazine.com/196...ke-conversion/

Can anyone help, please?

Thanks!

Think I may have answered my own question. My current setup uses the top hole in the pedal, but should be the bottom one and use a different brake light switch actuator bracket.

Does this sound correct? Bottom hole for power brakes?

Yes.
On PB both the MC and the clevis sit lower in the car.
