Default Source for 82 fuel sending unit/pump (non CE)

I'm looking for recommendations of the best source for an NOS or OEM fuel sending unit/pump. Or opinions/suggestions on the possibility of replacing the float and pump to keep the car as original as possible. The car has been sitting for 37 years in a garage with a half tank of gas and this is what I pulled out. Any and all help is appreciated.

Have you tested the sender with an ohm meter?
Really doubt you will find an NOS/OEM pump, the AC-Delco part number is discontinued but aftermarket pump is available along with separate sender.

I have the whole assembly in an ultrasonic cleaner now so I can get it clean enough to see what I'm working with. You can't get a good indication of the overall condition of the sending unit from the picture even if you zoom in. But, there is a 1/4" thick cover of varnish that looks like ash on a burned log and the wire to the sender is missing the insulation about 2" up from the sender. If I can buy the sender and pump separately, I prefer to rebuilt/recondition what I have. The car is 100% original with the exception of the the oil filter and maybe air filters most likely, so I would rather keep as many of the original parts as possible. I bought it from the original owners estate and It only has 9761 original miles. It has been kept in a garage from day one and the condition is unbelievable. It's a Pennsylvania car which you would expect to have rust everywhere but there is absolutely no rust except for muffler clamps and the fuel filler neck, which I can't figure that one out. The last yearly PA inspection was 1989.

Anyway, I appreciate the reply and if you, or anyone reading this post, has any opinions on the best source for these parts, I would like to hear it. I have purchased parts from Corvette Central but they are not the most honest company in many respects, misrepresentation of parts, claims of items In Stock when they aren't, delivery time frame etc.

Thank you MelWff.

The old sending unit and pump spent 2 hours in the ultrasonic cleaner and came out pretty clean considering. I tested the sender and the resistance read all over the place so I took the cover off and the wiper arm was mostly dissolved. The float itself still floats but that's about all that works. The pump does not work. The interior metal for the vent line connection is partially dissolved as well.

I looked at Rockauto, Jegs, Ecklers and Corvette Central and l like the stainless steel Liland Global sending unit at Rockauto the best. I appreciate your input. Thanks again.

I bought a sending unit from ecklers and a carter fuel pump for my 82 CE and they have been working great. Be sure to change the fuel filter after changing the fuel assembly.
