Can anyone recommend someone to change tires on my Vette near the Cleveland, OH area? My mechanic doesn’t want to do it for fear of scratching up the wheels, and I get it, but I want to avoid a dealership if possible.
Thank you!
I am not in Cleveland so I can't help you there. I have been using Discount Tire for several years. They haven't screwed anything up too badly. They broke a center cap once and didn't tell me. Luckily I caught itbefore I left and showed it to the manager. He bought me a replacement. No damage to any wheels. They know to use jacking pucks.

I really appreciate this, thank you for your help!
When I got new rims, I removed the originals from the car and took them in, I don't trust any tire guy not to scratch my car. They still screwed up the TPMS, and scratched the edge of the rims.

Would be nice if you said where you had it done. I've had similar problems at other places, but never at Discount.

I also like to take the loose wheels in for new tires as it eliminates possible damage to your car. It makes their job easier too, so win win.
Unfortunately, it seems like it's a foreign concept for many places to use care and not scratch your wheels.
When I had mine done recently, it felt like I was asking the service guy for a favor to not scratch the wheels. That was at the local Lexus dealer that also occasionally does Porsche wheels for their sister dealership.

I took my new rime to the first shop. I talked to the supervisor directly and ask if they could install the tires without scratching the rims. He said he couldn't guarantee it. So I took them to Discount, the guy said they could do it. Then they continued to screw up the valve stems AND scratch the edges of the rims. WTF! I would suggest to tell them, you want to install the TPMS's. It's also a good time to replace old TPMS's, mine were still the OEM ones.
yes, I actually have one down the street. I wasn’t sure if that would be a safe option. I appreciate the help so much!
Not all Discount Tire stores are the same , obviously, and not all have the most experienced techs either. Just be sure to voice your concerns and ask questions so they know what your expectations are.
I also have used Discount and had positive results, but they were aware of my concerns and expectations. The few minor issues I've had were taken care of favorably.
Any time anyone works on your car, there's some possibility of things going badly.
We've used Discount Tires in various places around the country for 20+ years and had good results. They are my "go-to" tire shop.
When I need new TPMS sensors, I buy them at our local Chevy dealer and hand them to the DT guy, they are ok with that.
