New Guy With my 84
I picked up my 1984 Corvette off Marketplace after it had been sitting for a long time, probably at least a decade and maybe closer to two. I named the car Pixie, and it has turned into a much bigger project than I first expected.
Once I got it home, I pulled the interior, dropped the rusty fuel tank, and started cleaning the car inside and out. The car had been home to multiple generations of rodents, so the interior was pretty rough from both rodent damage and sun damage. The wiring was also chewed up badly in several areas. At first, I thought I could repair sections of it, but once I got deeper into the car, it made more sense to remove the damaged wiring and start fresh instead of chasing problems forever.
Pixie still has the Chevy 350 with the factory Cross-Fire Injection setup, but I have been working through a lot of electrical and fuel system issues to get it back to a running and driving condition. I replaced the fuel tank, worked through the wiring, rebuilt parts of the TBI setup, and started using a Speeduino ECU so I can tune and learn the system as I go.
My goal is not to build a perfect restoration or a show car. I just want to make Pixie reliable, functional, and enjoyable to drive while keeping the project realistic. It has already taught me a lot about wiring, tuning, troubleshooting, and patience. I’m here to learn from people who know these cars better than I do, share progress, and hopefully help someone else down the road who ends up in the same situation.
