So, BB water pump rebuild kits are out of stock everywhere that I have looked and have been for nearly a year. Suppliers are less than forthcoming, estimating in stock soon every time I have reached out. Rebuilt pumps are available, so the parts are available to someone, just not me. If I want to keep my pump it seems that my only current option is to buy a rebuilt pump, deconstruct it and harvest the parts for my pump. Does anyone have any better ideas for this situation?
Having my # correct pumps are important to me, so no exchanging them. There are local rebuilders to me who do this work for pretty reasonable prices. Have you checked your area?
If it were a name brand pump you might be able to get it rebuilt. That is a good point, I don't think they want us to rebuild water pumps anymore.
I upgraded (?) my water pump from a cast iron Stewart's Stage 2 to an aluminumEdlebrock BB Shiny water pump which they claim is "better than the original". The slightly used Stewart's pump is available if you want a replacement that is better than the original for a BB Mark IV. The pump was replaced entirely for the weight loss, looks and features of the new Edelbrock water pump, the old pump has less than 10,000 miles of well lubricated coolant use.
The aftermarket electric water pumps have lots of rebuilding parts available. I might go that direction as I don't drive the 1968 C3 that far any more. For cross country driving then stick with a conventional water pump for reliability. For shorter driving the new high flow water pumps might make sense.

OP
me thinks this may be your best route.
A local shop that still rebuilds on site. They do still exist.
Seek them out. Perhaps they'll either rebuild yours or offer to supply rebuild parts Or even give you their contacts for parts.
