Default Ported LT6 "92mm" Intake Manifold Upgrade

Guys,

I have gotten a few requests from individuals and recently a shop (LMR in Texas) to see about my porting their intakes to accept the larger 92 mm aftermarket TB's that Soler is offering

And rightfully so as I feel alot of the benefits the larger TB might offer is offset by the mismatch lip created by the larger 92 mm outlet dumping into the entrance of a significantly smaller 87mm manifold throat.

This leaves a 2.5 mm lip protruding 360 around at the back of the TB where it meets the manifold entrance disrupting flow and reducing CFM and airspeed negating some of the potential gains from the upgrade

A smaller TB dumping into a larger manifold entrance is OK (no lip or obstruction there) but the opposite is never a good situation.

Anyway....I decided to take a more serious look at this after LMR reached out to me and I agreed to attempt opening up the entrance of one of these intakes hoping not to port a hole in it at the same time.

Im pretty pleased with the results.....while still managing to (barely) retain the OEM gasket, I opened the entrance very close to 92 mm and reduced that mismatch at the manifold entrance substantially (to a point it wound have a negligible negative impact on flow).

I also handled all the usual runner porting that I do when I normally port these intakes and I recently sent it off to LMR for some dyno testing. Without a doubt there will be more flow available with both sides of the manifold entrance now opened up and with the larger TB's and the ported runners of the manifold I suspect the results might look pretty good.

While Im still a big fan of ported OEM TB's (and the quality of their motors and electronics), it would be silly not to help out guys that are thinking about the larger aftermarket TB's that also wanted the extra CFM that a ported manifold also brings to the table. I have been getting more interest in them lately since they finally cracked the ECU on these cars

See photos below of a ported LT6 runner and the ported entrance of the 1st prototype with the larger TB entrance we sent to LMR last week for testing

Any of you guys already running the 92's.....this is a no brainer mod IMO allowing you to get even more gains from the larger TB's you already purchased.

We also offer the painting of these intakes as well at discounted rates bundled with the porting.....none of this stuff is up on my website yet.....just reach out to me directly if you have an interest in any of the manifold mods (porting/painting/ etc.)!

Cheers,
Tony

How is the intake to head look like ? Any potential improvements to port matcging the intske or are the heads that would need to be matched ?

Good question

Its actually pretty optimized in that department....the manifold runner outlets are slightly smaller then the cylinder head port entrances.

Nothing really to gain doing work there
