Default It's gone, warning, this isn't a feel-good story

So towards the end of last summer, I ordered a soler 91 mm throttle body. The folks were great to work with and I got my product fairly quick. When the part arrived, I opened it took a look at it, marveled at the beauty of it, and put it back in the box on my work desk.

Fast forward a couple of months later and I'm thinking I'm going to put that on, it'll give me something to do to the car while we try to wait out the winter months. When I went to the desk, the throttle body wasn't there. The box was there but not the part. So I just figured I'd put it up somewhere in the garage. I gave the garage a good cleaning a few weeks later and couldn't find the part so I thought maybe it was in one of the bins in the garage. As a matter of fact I was pretty sure. I just now checked all the bins and it's not there. I was telling my neighbor about this, he knows about my ADHD and I'm always losing my walle, keys, and so on, so he just laughed and said you will find it. But it's not in this house.

Sometimes I leave my front door open when I leave because Rocky, my German Shepherd / husky looks intimidating. Although, he's a lover not a fighter. I'm thinking someone came inside my house and took that throttle body. But, there's always cash laying around especially on the work desk there's three monitors, my work laptop, my personal laptop, and there's big *** TVs all over this joint. Why would they take the TB and leave the freaking box. So

feeling like a victim, and I'm telling my neighbor they also stole a mobile one extended performance oil filter because I couldn't find that. and I had got it about the same time I got the throttle body. Well the damn oil filter showed up on a shelf in the garage. So that's on me.

The only other thing I can think of is it accidentally got thrown away.

Anyway, all this time passing and me thinking about the possibility that I would not find it, left me to looking at getting another one or getting the new 92 mm. So I had a chat with chat GPT, and it's recommending that since I already have the TB Controller and a few other mild mods that I'd be better served to wait on a throttle body until I get headers.

The crazy thing is, chat GPT told me that once I get the headers and some other air flow goodies and a tune that Rocky, would also enjoy the horsepower gains. Followed by a 🐕 emoji.

I don't even know how to chat GPT knows anything about my dog. That was crazy.

Losing that throttle body and not knowing what happened to it, is worse losing $350 at 15 years old. would say that $350, not knowing what happened to my freaking throttle body, and a little rock chip on the nose of my C7, are the most haunting things I've ever endured in my whole life 😂😂😂. I don't know if I ever going to be able to recover from those three things. ADHD sucks.

You aren't going to believe this, but just this past weekend I was bleeding brakes on my Z06 and in one of my toolbox drawers i FOUND a soler 91mm throttle body that I never even bought.
No box, just the throttle body.

on top of that, my dog was sitting right near it, and I don't even have a dog!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you look at the TB installed in the car? Maybe you installed it and forgot that you did.

Well I wrecked my mind on that and I know I didn't install it. I did ask my neighbor, who's a mechanic and works on my truck, and my Dodge Charger before I sold it a couple weeks ago and on the Corvette if I had him do it and he said no. I even asked him if I brought it over there for him to store it until I was ready. It just seems like if I was taking out some trash that throttle body would have added weight to a trash bag and I would have noticed that. I've got the original throttle body from the RAM and the Dodge Charger that I replaced with bigger throttle bodies and both aren't something you would notice when taking out the trash.

Somebody had to walk into this house and take it most likely. But I go back and forth on that.

Sorry to hear about this, it must be frustrating not to be able to solve this mystery, It's too late now but you should consider putting in a security camera to monitor your door or entry way.
Yeah, AI is a little spooky at times, it makes you wonder if it's not listening or watching your key strokes.

So is the theory that even socket, nut, bolt and other small tools that I drop into the engine bay, never to be seen again - does not beam up to Scotty in space, but teleports to someone else's garage?

I want'em back!

The chance of someone walking into your house, removing just the throttle body from the box and closing it so it looks unopened, and not stealing anything else doesn't sound very plausible.

That scenario does sound highly improbable.

There is a very small, but non-zero chance that a wormhole can open up anywhere, at any time...
