Default Cup 2's lifespan for autocross

I posted this in the autocross section, but haven't gotten a single response. Maybe you guys have some ideas.

I've read several places that the cup 2 tires deteriorate (time wise) significantly at some point.

I have a 2026 Z06/Z07 with cup 2's. I have a major event coming up later in June and would like reasonably good tires.

So far it looks like I will have 84 runs (30-50 seconds each) and 1 track day on the tires prior to my June event.

Do you think I should be looking for a new set of tires. I really don't want to go to this event and find my tires slow.

I've autocrossed for years with a C4 on Hoosier A7s and I knew that the tires slowed down after approx 100 runs, even though the tread still looked good.

FWIW Major event.... get new tires.

FWIW as you probably know, measure your current tread depth,
if 1/2 way worn and of course if tire age is less than 3 (or so) years,
well, maybe not new tires.
Plus, I am no professional, yet don;t forget a proper heat cycle to
break" the tires in.

Again my vote - get new tires, "Major event".

Have fun and good luck for a podium

'Major event' is vague.

I ran the Cup2Rs for a few events when I first got the car. Good grip. Tires need heat. And they DO NOT last long.

My wife and I co-drive AutoX with SCCA and we have switched to TPC PS4S on CF wheels for daily and Vitour X1 on BCForged for AutoX. The Vitours are better than the Cup2R for AutoX. They tolerate heat (important for a co-driver car) and are happy with -2.5F camber.

Also of note...if your event has a national sanction (SCCA, USCA, NASA) then typically 140TW tires aren't allowed. 200TW is lowest legal for street classes.

Agree with Matt,

I also have a Z07, and autocross and track about 20-25 weekends a years. Cup 2Rs are not legal for sanctioned events, and as stated, the Vitour P1s are better anyways. 84 runs and a track day is a LOT of wear on those tires.

My daughter and I co-driving my Z07 last weekend. We're prepping her (and me) for the SCCA National Tour and Pro in Bristol this coming July 4th week. These runs are on the Vitour P1s. (daughter top left)
