Ordered Tick Performance C7 bearing kit and two rubber couplers, because it said if you want to do a billet for automatic to call them before placing the order. And so I took it it was probably harsh on the transmission. So I just said that OEM was fine enough... Until it wasn't lol. I am getting the burning rubber smell, so I'm pretty certain one or both of my couplers are gone. I also got the bolt set as I wasn't sure if those are torque to yield and I didn't want to take the chance.
I'm not looking forward to this after seeing all the threads of people doing it and the big thread that person created a huge walkthrough in pictures, thank you whoever that was! Thankfully I have a four post left available to me to work. So I'm trying to get done in one or two days. . Outside in the Phoenix heat, this is going to suck! I have gone through the post and have all the tools that I think I'm going to need. I'll be doing it at my uncle's house so I have to pack up all my stuff and tools to bring over lol.
If anybody who has done this has any pointers or tips they ran across, it'd be greatly appreciated to pass it along.
I'm in the middle of that task. Stuck with lowering the rear transaxle. See my other post.
Could you share link to the big walkthru?
That's the part im not looking fwd too. I just did the AC compressor (twice, don't buy any AC components from UAC!) torque tube im scared to death of, but I have to get it done this weekend. Since I have to disconnect the rear brake lines, I'm going to use this opportunity to flush my brake fluid when it's back together. I have done it in 20k miles I've owned the car and since the car was only 4 years old when I purchased it, likely never been done. I wonder how much moisture has made it into the fluid
If you can pull this off, it will save you a pile of money.
Yeah, been seeing the quotes people have posted about at 7-8K+. I am not doing that!! This car actually has lots of room to work! Except the AC expansion valve being on the firewall behind the engine and the low side AC port being behind the valve cover and exhaust manifold! Lol.
