After a few fire ups I noted the thermo gasket weeping while sitting. Fluid weeping is blue in color. Thermo gasket was blue so it must be weeping threw the gasket. Got bolts tighted close to point of stripping and they are not bottoming out. Any suggestions on how to seal this?
discard any Asian-plated water neck. Most are warped.
US-made are available in replacement grade like Murray-Four Seasons.
Ensure both surfaces are flat & parallel.
Use a simple fiber gasket.
Don't use RTV. Instead, Thin-skim both sides of gasket with Permatex # 2 Non-Hardening. Don't look back.
