I just posted a thread on Z06 tires and appreciate all the responses and insights. I thought I’d make a new thread to keep that other thread tire-focused. My Z06 (Z07 package with Brembo ceramics) is track focused, and I’ve been thinking about changing out the ceramic brakes for metal brakes, and would like to hear thoughts on those that track regularly, what their approach has been. At least one Z06 owner at my local track mentioned that he’s gonna stick with his factory ceramics because the brake pad change wasn’t overly expensive and after a solid amount of tracking, he hasn’t seen degradation yet on the ceramics. However, I’ve heard more common that folks are switching to a metal like Girodisc. I understand the cost of replacement of the ceramic is a big draw to metal, but what other considerations did you have when you switched. If you switched to metal from the factory ceramic, what brand did you pick? Thanks.
I tracked a c7 Z06 for about 10 years and just switched in to a c8 Z07 this spring. My c7 had steel rotors, the C8 obviously carbon. At first I was planning on switching them out for steels but after reading a lot of feedback on this forum have decided to stick with the carbons...seems like the consumables costs are coming down, and if I were to switch to steels I'd run farily high performance rotors/pads that are on the more expensive end. At the end of the day it came down to wanting to allow the car to be used as it was designed & optimized and not introducing a big variable. I kind of landed on "if I was really that concerned about costs I would have just kept my c7, gotta pay to play"

And the brake software is expecting CCB's on the Z07...
It is not programmed for anything else, afaik...
And sp far cannot be hacked...
Cheers!
